Emma has been looking after our son William for the past school year. He attends Banks Road Nursery unit in the mornings and we needed someone to look after him in the afternoons 3 days a week. We know Emma through our older son who is at school with her son so we were immediately comfortable with sending William to her. However, William didn't really know Emma but they hit it off from day 1. William absolutely adores her and it take a good hour or so after I collect him for him to stop calling me 'Emma'! Emma has provided a first class, caring environment for our son and apart from him being at home with us, this is as good as it gets in terms of childcare. Emma's home is lovely and the space where the children play is bright and stimulating. She has loads of great toys which he thoroughly enjoys playing with. The outdoor space is also lovely. William was quite a solitary child, happy to play on his own and I think he's benefitted from spending time in close proximity to the other children Emma cares for. He has also become more open to doing arts & crafts activities as a result of the things they've done together. Obviously I get a personal 'handover' when I collect him but we get a written update in his folder each day. We also receive a weekly email with photos showing what he's been up to. The best recommendation must come from him in that he misses her during the school holidays and he's quite often disappointed to see us when we collect him from school instead of Emma!
