About Me

I am outdoorsy, and I spend most of my free time hiking, running, and practicing yoga. Having worked previously in outdoor pursuits roles as a cabin counsellor and workshop leader, I have seen first hand the benefits of outdoor learning, and I am passionate about bringing a love of movement and the outdoors to my work with children.

My enjoyment of the natural world has been key in my work with children and families at St Werburghs City Farm, which was a wonderful opportunity to link nature and arts and crafts. I have experience of creating activities that are suitable for a range of ages, such as pinecone hedgehogs and flower printing. As a cabin counsellor in America, I ran art workshops on jewellery making and macrame for children. My hands on experience in schools supporting art lessons, and working with my local Rainbows troupe have also given me the chance to design and deliver creative play projects based around everything from space travel to feeding local ducks! I have also recently completed an online Therapeutic Art course, which has reinforced for me the importance of art for children as a mindfulness and self-expression tool. I am inspired by books such as ‘The Joy Journal’ and ‘My Wild Child’ that give examples of using creative outdoor play everyday, and I would be excited by the chance to bring this philosophy to caring for your children.

Working in schools and in child-focused visitor centres, I am confident safe guarding children, and encouraging positive behaviour. I have ample experience in providing pastoral care as a teaching assistant and cabin counsellor. I am used to supporting large groups of children with minimal support. I am caring and encouraging, and really love working with children.
