Disappointing

Muna is a kind childminder, however, did not fully look after our child’s wellbeing since our daughter didn’t take a single nap during her stay (3 full days).

We hired Muna because our normal childminder was off and for 3 days in a row she was not able to get our daughter to nap at all. She was exhausted when we picked her up, and she would be crying all evening until we put her to bed. When we expressed our concerns to her, we realised she did not provide an optimal sleep environment for our daughter (i.e. she would rock her inside her living room while her children played). She also suggested us take our child with us during her nap time (which is impossible for us since we work full time,hence, why we needed a childminder).

We luckily found another childminder who was able to get our daughter to nap easily. In the evening she was happy and full of energy.

We also kindly asked Muna to refund us for the remaining 4 days given that we had to find a different childminder for the sake of our daughter wellbeing, but she refused.

Dear Marco,

Thank you for using my services. I have enjoyed being with Emilia as did my children. For the three days Emilia was with us we enjoyed her smilies laughter and inquisitiveness. I believe sleep is very important for every child and I make best efforts for every child in my setting to have all their needs met. All children I have minded always had the time for their nap and they napped. Likewise, we were in the process of finding the best way for Emilia’s sleep, and tried various ways - I even used the buggy of your choice, which meant I had to arrange one more buggy for my own baby. I believe I was open and accommodating to your suggestions. I have a quiet room for children to sleep, but I do not force any child to nap, but rather wait for them to show signs and respond accordingly. Sadly just as we started working together about Emilia’s needs you made the decision to leave. I respect your choice but every child has different needs and they need time to settle in too, and three days is still very early.

I understand your frustrations about non refundable fees policy, but this is what we clearly agreed to in our contract and is a standard policy among childminders. I believe I am fair here.
