Suzy has been looking after our 2 year old son, Henry, since he was 17 months old. Prior to Suzy coming to work with us Henry had not been looked after by anyone else apart from family and he was quite anxious around other people. As soon as Suzy arrived to meet us it was obvious she had extensive and valuable experience of working with children and communicated fantastically with Henry to make him feel confident in her presence. From day one Henry was happy to go out on his own with Suzy and, although he was often anxious when they first left the house, he was always arrived home smiling and laughing with Suzy and was sad to see her go. Now as soon as the door bell rings he shouts Suzy and runs out without his shoes on.
The experience that Suzy has had with children has made her a real asset to our family. She has taken time to build Henry’s confidence with different types of play and has helped him to become a very sociable little boy who plays well with other children and is very independent – he now puts on his own coat and shoes when she arrives so he is ready to head out with her.
Suzy has taken time to investigate different activities with Henry including exploring the local parks, going to the library, soft play and stay and play sessions. It is fantastic to have someone like Suzy who can make any activity exciting because with a new baby we often have not come up with a list of ideas for her before she arrives.
When my newborn Son Jasper arrived following a very difficult birth Suzy was brilliant. She was very flexible and was able to increase her hours working for us instantly as well as change days at short notice. She kept Henry happy by taking him to new and exciting parks so he was less unsettled by the changes at home and she was always on hand to help with Jasper as well when we were looking after Henry. Suzy is very confident with little babies and so natural and gentle. When I have struggled to calm Jasper she has happily stepped in and rocked him to sleep almost instantly which has been a huge help on chaotic days.
Sadly, as we are moving to Oxfordshire, Suzy will no longer be working for us. She will be greatly missed by us all especially Henry. We cannot recommend her enough and wish she could come with us.
