About Me

I am looking to progress my career in childcare and become a nanny. I will be looking to work for a family where i am able to bring my own 2 year old daughter along with me.

My Experience

When I left school I went to Colchester Institute and completed my level 2 in childcare, I had a work placement at my local primary school which was also my old primary school (Two village primary) while I was there I supported the teachers and teaching assistants by completing activities with the children such as simple mathematics, reading time, cooking, singing and outside play.

After completing my level 2 I went on to complete my level 3 through an apprenticeship, during this time I developed a very good understanding of the early years foundation stage, how to plan for individual children, writing up risk assessments and taking on the important role of being a key person.

I also attended training courses such as ‘outside learning’, ‘the inspired child’, ‘treasure and discovery baskets for babies’ ‘health and safety’, ‘craft and creativity’ and ‘manual handing’ these courses helped me to develop my practise further helping me to become a more experienced practitioner with lots of new ideas.

After I completed my level 3 as an apprentice I went on to take up a job as a practitioner and completed my level 2 Montessori training, I was at this work place for a total of 3 years before deciding that it was time for a fresh start and hopefully more opportunities elsewhere.

I mainly worked in the baby room with children 4months -2 years, I attended an ‘experience and environments for babies’ course which I feel improved my role as a practitioner as I had lots of new ideas for activities which would help the babies learn and develop, I also completed a first aid course, ignite to write course, supporting physical development course and gained my qualification in food hygiene. I have also completed my SENCO training. In January 2017 I was asked to take up the role of being deputy manager, this entailed a lot more responsibility which was a great experience for me!

Since then I took up work abroad for TUI working within their childcare sectors working in and managing kids clubs for 0-12 year olds in Greece, Mallorca, Italy & Menorca.

I then moved back to the uk where I have settled down and have my own daughter. I am now a Manager, SENCO and Deputy safeguarding lead in a nursery.
