My Summary
About Me
I am an OFSTED “good" registered childminder. I have lived in Allington for the past 22 years. I live with my lovely beautiful family, which consists of my husband Steve and 2 of our 3 gorgeous girls. Hannah-May lives her boyfriend, her eldest daughter and is expecting her second and is a registered assistant works with me to care for your little ones. Nicole works with me part time and is also a registered assistant and helps out when she can and Ellen is our youngest, she loves mixing with other children and cannot wait to have friends to play with every day. Ellen attends a local Secondary School. Lastly is my husband Steve and my partner in our setting, he works at a local residential home where he is a handyman. I also have another assistant Hazel who works 3 days a week, so between us, I work with a maximum of two assistants at one time, we are able to offer school runs for Palace Wood Primary & Allington Primary, unfortunately I am unable to collect from other primary schools . We have two small dogs called Louie Sheldon (Big Bang theory fans and named by Ellen) they have made our family complete, they are kept in the kitchen while we are working. We have a play room full of resources for all ages, due to the open plan of our house the children have the whole of the downstairs at their disposal. They are also able to access my garden at all times and thanks to Steve we now have an amazing garden which is fully usable thanks to the patio path that goes round the entire outside of our artificial grass. I have role play, dress up, kitchen, lego, cars, musical instruments, arts and crafts, books, a quiet area, babies, and much much more
As a parent who has used childminders myself in the past, I can appreciate it is a very hard situation finding someone you can feel at ease with and to trust with your precious bundles. My family and I will try to do all we can to help you with this and I will care for your children the way I care and love my own. I hope you will find my family and home very open and warm.
My Experience
I was a registered chilldminder from 2003. I had a year off from childminding and reregistered in 2013 .I have all the necessary insurances.
Over the years I have had many many children come through my setting and several of them still visit me today, the eldest is now my assistant and is very much a part of my family. I have had the pleasure over the years to care for 4 sets of twins and children with some special needs. I will be happy to discuss any requirements to see if I can assist you.
I am also a Brown Owl of a Brownie pack in Allington and have been since 1992, and although this can be time consuming at times I would not give it up for the world, I was even running the meeting 3 days before I gave birth to Ellen!
I have also been a creche Supervisor and a private foster carer for a while.
My Qualifications
As part of my pre-registration training I successfully completed a six week induction course in childminding ran by PACEY The course covered a range of subjects including the EYFS, Safe Guarding, working with parents, child protection, health and safety, child development and behaviour management.
I have my paediatric first aid qualification and all qualifications requested by OFSTED.
I also have my British Sign Language Stage 1 so am able to communicate with Deaf or hard of hearing adults and children (although I may be a little rusty now)
I will be continuing with my training and will obtain extra qualifications as and when they are available to me. I believe it is of the upmost importance to continue to further my training and refresh my skills in order for me to continue to provide a good/outstanding childcare service.
My Availability
My hours are Monday- Friday 7am - 5.30pm I am happy to discuss your requirements with you, unlike a nursery setting I am happy to offer a little flexibility, although I do have to finish at 6pm on a Wednesday due to me having to get to my Brownies meeting.
I am able to drop off and pick up from Allington Primary School and Palace Wood.

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.50 per hour
My fees are negotiable but work on a rate of £5.50 If I do increase my fees they are always in line with the cost of living.
Many of the children I care for are term-time only and as such my parents find it easier to spread the cost of the year evenly over the 12 monthly period. However I do understand that this is not for everyone and am more than happy to invoice my parents on a monthly basis.
I am also happy to accept payment from voucher schemes such as Busybees, care4 and Sodexho.
My Local Schools

Sian was my childminder for 7 years, she truly looked after my children as they were her own. I was always confident in leaving my children with Sian and they were always happy to go to her home before and after school. She was able to balance a firm but fair approach to all matters.
She understood the need for my children to grow up and we were able to work together to allow the children to gain more independence and have the life experiences, like playing in the park, or in the front garden, walk 'home' (to Sian's) from school..
As she has 2 older girls, Sian was also a great sounding board for me to check that I wasn't going mad!!
