My Summary
About Me
Hello, I’m Katie. I was born March ‘95 so currently 28. I have 3 children, all girls, who were born October 2015, November 2016 and August 2020. Since my first child was born, I’ve been a stay at home mum but would like to get back to doing what I’m passionate about… working with children. When my youngest is old enough to be in school, I would like to go back to college and study for my level 4 diploma in playwork with the dream of being a hospital play specialist.
I have a full UK driving licence and own a 7 seater car so plenty of room for car seats, pushchairs and all the necessary items that come with looking after children.
My Experience
Before I became a mother myself, I studied for my level 3 childcare and education diploma at Bracknell and Wokingham College. I spent two years studying and in this time, I spent time in many different care and education settings with children aged between 3 months up to 5 years. I was given many roles within these settings and have gained a great deal of first hand knowledge whilst in the settings.
Once qualified, I began working in a primary school as a before school club worker. We accepted children from reception age right up to year 6 so have had experience with older children too. I then extended my job opportunity to working lunch times and after school clubs too. During this time, I studied for my level 3 playwork diploma and also carried out a St. John’s ambulance first aid course, which also includes public liability.
During my time working within the school setting, I was handed many different responsibilities such as:
- collecting children from the infant school and bringing them to the junior school where the club room was,
- dropping off and collecting children from after school clubs
- organising and carrying out activities
- handling money for adhoc children
- preparing and serving food (completes food hygiene course)
- liaising with parents and members of staff in the two schools
- and most of all, being a friendly face that the children trusted and enjoyed being around.
My Qualifications
- CACHE level 3 diploma in childcare and education
- enhances DBS (what was CRB), although a new one will be needed for each new setting.
- CACHE level 3 diploma in playwork
- food hygiene
My Availability
Availability depends on childcare on my end. My two older children are at school and my youngest will be starting nursery for 3 hours a day in September with the possibility of doing full days if I’d like to. Ideally, it would be easier if you were happy for my children to be with me too if the hours overlap school/nursery but childcare can be arranged for them if not.
Please don’t hesitate to send me a message if you have any questions.
