About Us
Formby Day Nursery "Cullen House", is situated on one of the main routes through Formby, opposite the Bay Horse pub. We are a family run nursery and have been established for 45 years.
At Formby Day Nursery, all staff are fully qualified and well experienced, in fact 80% of us are mothers ourselves!
The nursery is based entirely on the ground floor and is split into 4 different age groups:-
Baby Bears (3mths-19mths)
Clever Crocs (19mths-32mths)
Pre-School Parrots (32mths-5 years)
Cullen House Kids Club (4 years - 11 years)
In all of these age groups we ensure the correct adult:child ratios are met as outlined by Ofsted. However, in our Baby Bears room, we believe a better adult:child ratio is 1:2 rather than 1:3. This enables all of the babies in our care to have their individual needs met and also plenty of cuddles throughout their nursery day.
The nursery has a fabulous outdoor space which is split into two. An under 2's garden and an over 2's. The pre-school children have regular access to the outdoors environment. Younger children and babies also have the opportunity to access the outoors using our 6 seater turtle bus and our double buggies. They go to the local park and on sensory walks. In our pre-school you are able to access up to 15 hours a week, free care and education funded by the government, during term time only. (Now 30hrs if working parents).
The nursery is committed to being fully inclusive and has every child's best interests at the heart of everything we do. The Early Years Foundation Stage is the statutory curriculum that we follow. We use this framework to help us identify the next steps in children's development and plan exciting, enriching and interesting activities to help children reach these next steps.
Our playrooms are set out so there are 10 areas of continuous provision including sand, water, painting, construction, role-play etc. This enables children to feel safe and confident within their environment and enables them to 're-visit' any area at any time of their choosing to help with their learning process.
At Formby Day Nursery we operate to a key carer system. Every child had their own special adult, who is responsible for the main care of the child throughout the nursery day.
During our most recent Ofsted Inspection (January 2018) Ofsted rated us 'Good'. We are very proud that Ofsted recognise that we are giving all of our children a high standard of education and very good quality of care.

Our Fees
- Childcare from £30.00 per morning
- Childcare from £30.00 per afternoon
- Childcare from £50.00 per day
- Childcare from £235.00 per week
Full Day (8.00am-6.00pm) - £50
Half-Day Session (8.00am-1.00pm or 1.00pm-6.00pm) - £30.00
Term - Time only if required!
7.30am start if required.
Holiday club fees (for 4 - 11 years) are £30 per full day, £15 per half-day.

My son was in Cullen House from the age of one he has just completed reception class. He still talks about his time at nursery and how he misses it.
My 3 year old daughter is currently at the nursery and has been there since she was 1. She always has a great time and has made some great friends.
My 1 year old daughter is due to start at the nursery and although I am going to miss her, at least I know she is in good hands and will be having a fun time in a very caring environment.
I can not fault this nursery and its brilliant staff. They help develope confident and happy children.
I do recommend this nursery to anyone and everyone!

My son has been going to Cullen House since he was 1 (he's 4 now). He absoloutely loves it, has made loads of friends and the staff are lovely. He is going to school in September and will miss Cullen House alot. Would definitely reccommend this nursery :)

This the second nursery that our child has attended and she is much happier at Cullen House. She is always pleased to go and loves the calm atmosphere and interesting activities that she takes part in. She has a lovely group of friends and the children are all very well-behaved because it is well organised and well structured. The staff make both children and parents feel welcome and involved. Our child is developing skills at the appropriate level and will be well prepared for starting school. Overall we couldn't ask for a better nursery.

My son attends Formby Day Nursery and I would recommend it to anyone. It is a wonderful nursery and my son loves going there. He has many friends there and the staff are brilliant. My son is happy and has developed into a bright and confident little boy since attending the nursery. Excellent!

Who really wants to leave their children and go to work?
We didn't but life doesn't always give you many options.
Thanks goodness we found Cullen house. Yes I felt guilty because our daughter cried on her first day but so did I. Now she skips in, puts her name on the door, gets her slippers on so she feels at home and gets straight into playing with her favourite toys and friends.
It has made her a happy and confident little girl.
We get a report every day of what she has been up to so we don't miss a thing and it tells us what she has eaten, how long she slept as well as all the things she has learnt whilst having fun.
Thank you to all the staff for helping us feel content that we can leave her in your capable hands.
We would highly recommend Cullen House to parents.

Both my children are at Cullen House and I couldn't be more happy with the care they receive there. They are both happy to go everyday and it makes it alot easier for me as their mum knowing there having so much fun. It eases my feelings of guilt having to leave them to go to work. I would highly recomend this nursery, and thank you to all who work there for taking such good care of my babies.

My son is almost 2 and he loves Cullen House and all the people there! I highly recommend them, all staff are plesent and helpful, wouldnt put my son anywhere else!
