My Summary
About Me
I work in partnership with my husband Alan.
We believe that a happy, settled child is one who can experience the world at its fullest, promoting deeper learning.
“We believe a child flourishes best in a happy, caring and stimulating environment where they feel secure within a positive routine. We represent an extended family, helping lay the foundations in a safe and relaxed atmosphere, helping children to succeed in all that they do, now and in the future, and most importantly, give peace of mind to our parents”.
Thank you for considering Ely House Childminding in your search to find the right childcare provider for your child’s early years journey.
Our children are the most precious people in our lives so choosing a childcare provider to give them the very best start is naturally a big decision.
Over the years, we’ve watched with joy as our own 3 children flourished and we believe their early years’ experience helped them to become the happy, confident young adults they are today, and we hope that Ely House can bring the same joy to your family too.
Our mission
‘Working in partnership with families to raise happy, confident children who are eager, excited and equipped to experience the world at its fullest’.
What we do
We provide the highest quality of childcare in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. Your child will enjoy a rich, exciting play experience which will have a positive influence on their learning and development. Through our child-centred learning approach, we facilitate a varied blend of planned activities and free play, both indoors and outdoors, alongside children of varying ages. All areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) are given equal coverage to ensure children receive a well-rounded early education. Our playroom and garden are spacious, light, calm and inspiring, primed with opportunities ready to be discovered by the children each day. Awe, wonder, and joy await each and every child as they explore their unique fascinations and interests through play.
We are dedicated to supporting each child to build strong foundations for future learning, helping them to develop good self-esteem, self-belief, and the confidence to ‘have a go’!
My Experience
A little more about us
We have been childminding in March since 2003, which is something we started doing so we could care for our own 3 children, Victoria, Rosie and Louis born 2001,2002, and 2003. The girls have moved on since graduating from university, but still visit regularly so you’ll often see them with us. As well as our three children we also have four very friendly cats Rain, Inkpot, Squid and Pumpkin, Rain is often waiting on the doorstep when families arrive.
Prior to starting my own family, I trained as an NNEB Qualified Nursery Nurse and have previously worked in Private Day Nurseries, after school clubs, and as a live in Nanny for a family in London.
I started childminding full-time in 2003 when my children were all still very small, with Alan joining me in 2004, which was when we became a partnership.
Previously Alan has worked for the government for 6 years, a bank for 2 and then as a bookkeeper for 15 years.
We have cared for over 200 children since that time at a range of ages, from very young 4-month-olds to teenagers as after school care, and every age in-between. It is wonderful to have the little ones so young and see them go through all the years at school, and we take great pride in being able to get to know many families very well.
In the past we have cared for children in wheelchairs and children with additional needs such as Autism and Epilepsy, and we always ensure that we are able to accommodate all the children's individual needs in the best way we can.
My Qualifications
NNEB Diploma in Nursery Nursing, the equivalent of level 3 qualification.
We both hold current first aid and food hygiene certificates, which are updated every 3 years.
