About Me

Hello, I’m Rhiannon

I have a small amount of availability each week (available until 3:30pm weekdays during term time, and from 5pm weekdays, full weekends during school holidays). *each week is different, so please get in touch if to discuss my availability if you require a nanny or babysitter.

———————
I have experience with all age groups, specifically: premature twins from 4weeks to 6months old, 2-4 year olds in a nursery, and 4-7 years olds in a school, along with various ages from 2years up to young adult through coaching gymnastics.

I have recently finished a fixed term nanny position caring for 8 year old twins. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this family, and am keen to find my next family/families to work with.

I enjoy spending time with little ones, watching their curiosity for everything and seeing them explore and learn about the world around them. It’s very rewarding to see I have had a part in children’s growth and achievement.

I am a very calm and nurturing person. I use a positive approach with children. I like to ensure all children within my care have fun, achieve (when/where necessary), are safe, and feel loved. I believe structure and routine is important for children to feel safe and secure, I like to follow a consistent daily/weekly routine for the children I care for. I am firm on boundaries and follow discipline style set within the family, validating children’s emotions, whilst appropriately addressing any negative/unwanted behaviours. I am very creative & imaginative and enjoy planning fun creative activities relevant to the child/children interested and developmental stages.

I am a British Citizen; I have a valid passport (for any travel purposes)
English is my first and only language.

*please note I do not drive. I am happy and confident navigating public transport with children, and am happy with walking to and from places too*

My Experience

•Premature twins in their own home
•Infant twins in their own home
•Toddlers in a nursery setting
•School age children in schools, sports clubs, and their home environment
•Bereaved children
•SEN children in schools, and sports clubs

At present I am filling my time with babysitting and temporary nanny roles with various age groups. I am keen to find a permanent regular role.

February to July 2023 (six month contract): live-in, Wrap around nanny for 8year old twins, whom were bereaving the loss of a parent. Sole and shared care of children throughout their week, school and activities drop off and pick up, homework help, cooking dinners, preparing bags and uniform for school and activities, etc. In addition to the usual nanny and nursery duties for school aged children, through working with the parents and key adults within the children’s lives, I re-established structure and routine into their week, rebuilt the children’s independence and personal skills, and supported in improving their happiness and confidence, along with supporting their emotional needs and following techniques set out my professionals.

December 2022 (1 week temporary role): nanny (sole charge) for two school age children, picking up from school and bus stop, homework help/reading, supporting with meal time, starting bedtime routine, and assisting the parents with a birthday party for 12x 5-6year olds- taking a group in a taxi to the destination and home again, supervising/entertaining at home, helping with meal time and tidying up afterwards.

November 2022 mothers help- supporting a parent with 4month old twins, being an additional pair of hands to help with the babies’ daily routine because their regular nanny was unavailable.

nanny’s assistant for 4month old twins for 3 month duration in 2015- helping the nanny with the babies’ daily routine, assisting with outings, being a second adult for classes that required 1-1 ratio.

As a part of the child care and education course I attended 6 work placements, where I gained experience working with various ages and a variety of settings, each placement was 2 full days per week for roughly 4 months:
•primary schools
-Reception class September to December 2012. I assisted class teacher and teaching assistant with care and activities of the children under the EYFS.
-Year 2 class. I assisted the teacher with children learning and education within the classroom, and providing some additional 1-1 support for children that required some additional support.
•SEN
-Working alongside the child’s 1-1carer. A child aged 5years with Down syndrome, that attended main stream school. Along with focus being on specific child, assisted with class room activities where required.
• nursery
-toddler room for children aged 24-35months (2 year olds). Supporting with daily care and development of the children.
-preschool aged children (3years plus). Assisting and leading activities to prepare children for the transition to school. Supporting their learning and development.
•baby care
-assisting a mother with her premature twins (8 weeks old, 4 weeks corrected when I started). Giving the family an additional pair of hands whilst the dad returned to work. attend activities with the babies, planning activities, feeding, bottles etc, changing, nap times, advising/supporting with routine, and household chores relating to the babies care such as organising clothes, tidying baby room, sterilising bottles & feeding equipment. Giving mum some free time to herself, and allowing her to spend some one to one time with each baby. Supporting and advising with developmental milestones, noting premature age vs corrected age.

GYMNASTICS COACHING: 2011-present (variety of locations including gymnastics clubs, in school lessons, and sports clubs)
I have been coaching gymnastics since 2011. Varying between full time and part time hours.
Throughout this time i have had many different responsibilities, and gain lots of experience with children. My primary role was the lead coach for a groups of 6-10year old competitive level girls, these groups of gymnasts attend between 10-18hours a week. However my most relevant role for nannying would be head coach for preschool Gymnastics. I would plan and deliver preschool classes for children aged 2.5-4.5year olds without parents (occasionally older or younger children dependant on their personal development). Lessons did not just consist of gymnastics, but exploring all areas of child development- speech & social skills, imaginative play, singing and rhymes, risk taking, educational activities, as well as the physical development and gymnastics skills. following a theme per term, and incorporate all activities and equipment into this theme through imagination & exploration. Using lots of positivity and encouragement to engage children in activities, liaising with parents about children’s development, and also supporting parents with any anxious children.
