My Summary
About Me
I am a registered childminder and have worked in child care for 20 years now, in various settings. I have two boys of my own so being a childminder I can care for my own children but offer a safe, stimulating home from home environment for families in my local community.
I qualified as a nursery nurse when I embarked on my career. I have recently finished the Herts Quality Standard qualification.
I aim to accommodate families indivdual needs in conjunction with my family life, ensuring the needs of individual children are meet.
I attend local play groups, parks and story times to ensure the children's social, emotional and personal development are meet, as i feel this is a strong foundation to enable children to feel confident and build on thier self esteem.
Working in partnership with parents is my paramount concern, as no one knows their child better than the parent and togther we will be the primary educators for your child.
I have just received an 'OUTSTANDING ' grade from Ofsted and I am very proud of my achievement.
My Experience
I have worked in variuos settings, including in a Children and Family centre working with children in need and giving support to families. I started my career working as a nanny caring for 2 children. I also worked as Nursery nurse in a small nursery. I spent 7 years in Australia and I worked as a nanny caring for the same child for that period of time.
I have got 2 children now, one 10 year old and the other son is 6, who both attend full time education. I honestly would say having my own children has enabled me to gain, more experience and knowledge than any course I have attended or qualfications i have gained, as i can now understand how a parent feels not just looking at situations as a child care professional.
I hope my practice has been enhanced with my wealth of experience and knowledge and i feel i am a very approachable, honest, fun filled, caring person.

Emma Leonard minded my little girl from when she was about 9 months (June 2009) up till she was 2 ½ years old (February 2011) and I stopped working full time. She loves Emma and loves going to her house. Even know, she still ask on a regular basis, if she can go and visit or stay with Emma.
In my eyes, Emma is an excellent childminder, she is very professional, caring and you just know the children always come first. She creates a warm, homely, safe and fun environment for all the children in her care. She regularly takes them out on outings to toddler groups, parks, the zoo, the forest, etc. As well as doing a huge rage of structured activities, like crafts, colouring, dressing-up, reading, etc, she also allows for loads of free-play time, which I believe is very important in a child’s development and allows the children to express themselves.
We regularly talked about my child’s ongoing development and it was very easy to discuss any problem areas with Emma and come to an agreement on what action needs to be taken. She is very good at getting the children into a daily routine.
Overall I felt extremely happy to leave my child in Emma’s fulltime care and would not hesitate to recommend her as a child minder to anybody.
