I'm Marie, I'm 40 (shhh)! I'm a fun, caring and patient mom of one active but sweet 14 years old boy. I am available to look after kids of any age from a period of 1 hour to a whole season/years... I will probably be going outdoors if the weather allows during the day, be ready for beach days or park adventures. I prefer looking after the child in your own home/rental accommodation as it's easier for the child, especially meeting for the first time. I live in Newquay within walking distance to Porth beach, but we always end up at Fistral or Towan or around the Gannel exploring. I am available most of the time, often at short notice, especially for evening work.
So, a bit about me: I used to work in a local hotel childcare setting with children newborn to 14y and also did two mornings a week for a nursery/pre-school while I was training. I babysit often around Newquay especially for tourists on holiday, at events, but equally for local families/single parents alike so they can go out to enjoy quality 'couple'/alone time and work related jobs as well as at weddings. I really like newborns so if you are a new parent and need a couple hours to rest just let me know as I would gladly help with taking baby for a small walk, or at your home helping feeding etc with your new baby while you have a nap!
I'm quite a chilled and calm natured, but also the fun kinda parent that loves to dance in the lounge and make a mess (cakes, play in mud, make play dough etc). I often colour my hair funny colours, adorn my body with henna or glitter tattoos, and love doing photography and arts and crafts! I've started to learn to sew so I'm making some fun clothes too! If you are looking for a strict kind of person or even remotely well-dressed babysitter I'm definately not the one for you! I believe that the days of fun should be mostly child-lead activities, I love the outdoors and will mostly be going on adventures for the day, play at the park on the swings and get covered in sand and mud at the beach. I love to carry children in a sling rather than in a pram as it is much so much easier to get around and also keeps me fit. We are quite an active and healthy family, we like spending time outdoors especially in the sea. I'm also one of those crazy cold water sea swimmers that swim year around. I'm into surfing, bodyboarding, taking super long walks around Cornwall, looking at the sunsets. I am never sat down for too long indoors as I love the park, woodlands, throwing a Frisbee, getting my feet wet in puddles, cycling, going to the swimming pool. We have 1 rabbit, a guinea pig and 3 cats! I also run my own professional Face Painting Business too so I'm used to be around children often! :)
My Experience
I come from a very big family (parents both had 10 siblings so imagine our x-mas!!!), so I had to look after the younger cousins and often the neighbour's children when I was a teenager. I also did a Degree in Sport Coaching and have worked with kids of all ages, in various sports and summer camps and after school programs. I have a little boy (well he's now taller than I am) who is 14y and we like being active outdoors. I have babysat a few kids on a regular basis in Newquay before they start nursery or after school and evenings. I find it so sad when they grow up and don't need childcare anymore! I have also worked at a local creche where I often had to look after SENS kids. I will go to your house/at your event for childcare but need transport. I often babysit for families here on holiday at hotels too so they can go out for dinner or go play golf! I especially love the very young babies/newborn so happy to help new parents too even if it's a couple hours here and there, help with the feeding while you take a nap or go for a short walk!

Anytime, anywhere around Newquay, well most of the time, even short notice!
Unfortunately I don't have a car so if you live a bit further afield, I could maybe work if you came to pick me up and dropped me home afterwards... If you are around Newquay, I can always walk to you/bus if it's nice/close by, but I do ask for you to pay for Taxi, especially if late/bad weather.

My Fees
- Babysitting from £15.00 per hour
£12 (though happily accept more) I will only be looking after your child, not lots of others at the same time (like a childminder does) but I'm quite flexible, and it will depend on the situation. I do declare all income for Tax purpose as I'm self employed! I'm also willing to do a day-rate if I look after your kids often in Newquay. I can also accept vegan chocolate as a tip. Evening Babysitting is 15£/h (from 6pm to 8am) though I'm also happy to discuss rates. Thanks for looking at my profile :)

I was on holiday in Newquay and was planning an evening out with friends. I decided to look for a local babysitter and came across Marie. She was very quick with responding to my message and came across as very friendly and responsive so we booked her in for an evening. She was excellent - Marie was able to soothe my son to sleep and ensure he was taken care of without me worrying. Regular text messages were very helpful to give me piece of mind. As a bonus she left our kitchen tidied up! It was a nice touch, that I didn't expect. I can't recommend her highly enough, she's experienced and really good with children. I'll definitely call her again when I visit Newquay.

Ah that's is very sweet review. Your boy was such a happy child and responded well to cuddles and songs to fall back asleep, not even wanted the bottle. Being a parent myself, I know what it feels like to be apart of your child with someone you don't even know, so a text message with an update is the least i can do to reassure you. Hope you had a great time in Cornwall and see you again next time you visit.
We flew down to Cornwall from the north of England for a friend's wedding, so needed someone to babysit our boys all day on the Saturday. My boys instantly took to Marie which meant leaving them was much easier. Very experienced childminder who took it all in her stride. Put me at ease by sending me photographs during the day of my boys on the swings.
Overall
Love this lady and her gentle approach with my two boys (aged 2 and 4). She is kindhearted, engaging and so much fun for my kids when she comes over to babysit. I've been so grateful for her flexibility with start/finish times and last minute help needed so she has saved me more than once! Obviously very experienced and has brought comfort to my little ones in the night when they are generally used to just me being there. Magic! And a weight off my shoulders knowing they are in safe and capable hands. Rainbow even tidied the house for us and put the leftovers away while we were out - an unexpected bonus. My kids get excited when they know she's coming over. They absolutely love her! :)

I love looking after your children, they are the happiest children, so caring. Looking forward to the next time :)
I phoned Marie on the off chance she might be able to help me during a weeks holiday in watergate Bay.
She babysat 4 evenings in a row for us and we instantly felt comfortable leaving our daughter in her care. Marie is easy to talk to, super calm and friendly and I couldn't recommend her enough.
She was very reasonably priced and it allowed us to enjoy evening meals in peace without any worries.
We are hoping to return next year and will definitely be in touch with Marie to book her up for the week again!

Highly recommend little rainbow. This was my 23 month old's first babysit ever and he had a fantastic time. Loads of great toys for him to play with - he loved the train set!
She is friendly and easy to talk to. I imediately felt relaxed and confident about her.
Thank you very much for giving me a stress free day! Would definitely use again.
