About Me

I am a fully qualified child carer with an NVQ 3 in childcare. I gained my NvQ 2 and 3 while working in a nursery setting. After 4 years working in nurseries including time as as a supply nursery nurse which required a lot of flexibility I transitioned to nannying where I spent 6 years doing a job that I loved. I found that nannying was the most fulfilling role for my skills. Watching the children I care for learn new things and enjoy a day filled with fun was the most rewarding part of my job. While nannying I worked with children from 3 months to 12 years including time caring for a family of 5 children in a busy household.

I have a good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stages Curriculum. I use this to plan stimulating and age appropriate activities to meet the individual need of the children in my care. I believe in making use of the free activities in the community like storytime at the library and stay and play sessions so the children are able to interact with others and develop their social skills. I also attend classes as requested by the parents and I am confident taking the children in my care swimming and on day trips to parks, soft-play centres etc. I’m also confident with messy play activities ( and the clean up afterwards)which is always popular with the children. I aim to give the children in my care continuity by following their parents routine in their own environment. I try to structure each day with time for all areas of play and learning in preparation for school in the future. I also have additional support needs experience after my time working with 2 children on the autism spectrum who I developed a close bond with.

I have a clean driving license and my own car which enables me to take the children in my care out and about.

I took a career break after having my son 6 and daughter 3 so now I’m looking to get back into the job that I loved part time.
