I am a 33 year old qualified children's social worker currently working as a residential child care worker in a council run Short Break Respite Unit for children with disabilities.
I have a real passion for working with babies and young children, and believe that my experience, particularly as a Sure Start Family Support Worker, will provide me with a sound basis to start a career in nannying.
I am looking to find a permanent, full time position with a family. I want to find a family that are looking for a long lasting nanny – someone who will build up a great relationship with both the child/ren and parent/s.
I am in a position to be as flexible as needed and I am happy to work the hours to meet the needs of the family.
I am a none smoker.
I am a car driver and have my own car insured for business purposes.
I have a recent enhanced DBS check.
I am mature in approach, fun, reliable and responsible!
I live in Metham, Holmfirth with my partner David. Whilst we do not have children of our own, we have four gorgeous young nephews (8, 7, 3, 1) who are a massive part of our lives and who we regularly care for, and take on holidays.
My Experience
Professionals Experience:
Qualified as a social worker 2007 - BSc HONS Social Work 2:1.
I have spent the past 8 years working in childcare setting, as a residential child care worker in a residential unit for children with disabilities and complex health needs.
Prior to this I was working as a social worker with children 0 - 19. Prior to this I spent over two years working as a full time family support worker within a busy children’s centre, where there are services delivered everyday for families and young children and babies. I did both 1:1 outreach home-visiting, along with centre based group work.
I worked with families to help them implement parenting strategies at home, along with supporting parents with routines, weaning and appropriate play. Etc.
I also took a lead on teenage parents, and facilitated young parent groups. This involved planning and implementing a wide variety of time-tabled activities for both the young parents and their babies.
I delivered parenting courses to groups of parents – promoting evidence based parenting strategies. I was part of a multi-agency hub team and worked with many different professionals within my role.
Personal Experience:
From the age of 17 I was influential in the bringing up of both my younger sisters who were 5 and 14 at the time of my Mother’s death. This is when I first recognised that I wanted to pursue a career in working with and supporting children.
I am a family orientated person and regularly care my young nephews.
In all my working roles I have worked with children of all ages – from babies to teenagers.
