In our setting we attend local play groups, enjoy singing at the local library and enjoy helping out at the local allotment in Baxenden. Our little ones really enjoy interacting and playing with new friends, so we do try our best to attend several social events in the week.
We do find that by the time little ones begin school that they have strong bonds with their little friends.
We have a quiet area where we spend time reading books or if we fancy doing baby yoga. One of our favourite things is playing with puppets and making fun stories where we become pirates or a tiger.
We are fortunate enough to live in a quiet and picturesque area of Baxenden with the countryside on our door step so we enjoy spending as much time as possible exploring the outdoors and visiting lots of the animals close by.
This year we added a new family of chickens that we love to feed, hold and interact with, we are also the proud owners of 2 beautiful pygmy goats called Billy and dollie. They are both brother and sister and are absolutely wonderful with all the children, we are hoping to re-home a few ducks later on in the autumn.
We have a very private decked area outside where can do a spot of bird watching, throw stones in the river or play in the shaded sunshine, this area is fully covered so we can use it all year round and we have an adjoining playroom that accompanies this area.
Inside wee have a playroom that is adjacent to the kitchen diner and we use this when it is to cold and wet to play on the decking. All resources are rotated and we focus very much on the curiosity approach and free play.
In the warmer months we use our front lawn which is fully secure and we are now converting part of our summer house into an outdoor mud kitchen/ forest school area. The front lawn is south facing so is a wonderful place to play and enjoy the weather. Each spring we are always out making dens or mud kitchens in anticipation of the warmer weather for my baby's.
We are have currently dug out quite a big area below our decked area, that is adjacent to the river. We are hoping to convert this over the next few months into an extra area for the children to explore the wildlife and river as they will eventually be able to access it safely to go pond dipping.
My family have a love of the great outdoors and as a family we enjoy walking, and introducing our daughter and baby son to new experiences daily, this can range from understanding how a tree grows, to bug hunting and enjoying the outside in all weathers, we follow our little ones interests and love to bring the outdoors inside and create texture and colour that we may have seen on a walk.
We enjoy searching for leaves then printing them onto paper, or finding a cone and making a bird feeder, splashing into puddles and watching their faces as we sing outside and search for birds or bugs.
We also do lots of crafts, singing, dancing and making music. But we also love to read, bake, play in the mud kitchen and play in the grass.
The allotment is by our front gate and summer house we love planting seeds, watching our fruit trees grow. This summer we have grown strawberries, mini peppers, potatoes, tomatoes and beans. We are still learning how to grow the biggest sunflowers hehe
When I had my son and daughter watching them grow, and thrive in the world made me fall in love with their age group and I knew I wanted to be part of other little ones development.
We offer a home from home environment for our little ones, where they feel secure, happy, loved and can thrive together as a family.
I can provide childcare for the main surrounding area's of Baxenden, Accrington, Rising bridge and Haslingden or further a field as we are close to main links for the motorways. With pick up and drop off for the 2 neighbouring schools in rising bridge and Baxenden.
