My Summary
Live Out Nanny, Available In September 2024
About Me
Highly motivated and with almost twenty years of experience in childcare and outstanding references.
Currently employed until end of July, I am looking for a position starting in September 2024, ideally full time.
I am native french and I have been living in the UK since 2006. I am fully fluent in both languages (English and French).
I live in South East London (in Forest Hill) and would like to find something local if possible.
I take my job very seriously and always adapt as much as I can to help and go the extra way to make your life easier (I’ll get the milk or drop the parcel at the post office for you, etc.)
I have a positive attitude and am a very calm and patient person.
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Sciences of Language (applied linguistics) and also studied corporate communications. I am able to offer tutoring as well as all the usual nanny tasks.
In the past twenty years, I have been working with children of different age (from birth to the age of 15) and different needs too. I have a lot of experience working with newborns and bilingual children. I also have experience of working with disabled children, neurodivergent children, asthmatic children, children with divorced parents, etc.
My favourite years are the early years (0-5) because there are so many achievements and milestones. This is harder work and can be challenging at time but this is also so rewarding to observe the little ones progress and see the amount of things they can learn in such a short time.
Not only I have good knowledge of the EYFS when working with children under 5; but I am also confident assisting older children with their homework and school projects and building strong connections.
I gladly offer help with general primary school tutoring; in my last position I have looked after homeschooled children and helped with the reading and mathematics skills and assisted them with their workbooks whenever they needed.
I have a didactic nature and love sharing my knowledge and culture with the children I am looking after. I have a nurturing way with children and always encourage their natural ability to absorb and stay interested and use what they learn to build their confidence.
I like stimulating children's brains with educational activities and games adapted to their developmental needs. For example, when playing with building blocks I stimulate their problem solving, when using playdough they experiment touching different textures and building their fingers muscles, when singing and listening to/playing music they learn about controlling volume and listen carefully, when I am reading a book they can learn how to recognise symbols and letters and use imagination to predict the end of the story, when playing games they can learn about good sportsmanship, etc.
I especially love art and craft because it is such a rich activity and can relate to every subjects and can be used to illustrate so many different things. And any age group enjoys it as well.
Another one of my favourite activities is cooking and I encourage the children to participate as it makes them practice their numeracy skills in a fun way, it is also a good life skill and can give good eating habits by the same occasion.
I always try to take children out to parks/ playgrounds/ museums/ playgroups or even just for a walk, whenever the weather is good enough for that, because I think being in many different types of environment is how they discover the world and they always see more interesting things and have more fun. I happily organise days out and travel with the children I look after. I also organise playdates because it is important for them to learn how to socialise.
I always make sure children have healthy meals and snacks. As I already mentioned, I enjoy cooking and am used to homemade rather than processed food. I believe this is very important for their development to eat the right kind of food. I am able to adapt to all king of diet too. I have been looking after vegetarian children and children who had gluten free diet. I am also experience with weaning and baby led weaning.
I consider myself being fairly strict but not too strict, as I believe it is important for children to learn how to respect simple rules for hygiene and safety reason for exemple but I also think it is important to give them the freedom they need to learn. I always praise good behaviours to give children confidence in their success when they do well and whenever they don’t do so well I make sure I explain them why it is important to stop misbehaving and the consequences that could result and help them work out how to improve.
I like using a WhatsApp group as a link between parents and me where I can write what I did with the children during the time I look after them and send you pictures if you wish (I usually don’t take any photographs of the children unless you will request it) and where you can write me messages/instructions too if needed. I find this is a good communication tool between parents and me. But I am not the kind of person who will constantly have my phone with me so I tend to use this more after work.
If there are other things you would like to know about me and the way I work, please feel free to ask me.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
My Experience
I have been looking after children for almost 20 years, I first have been an au pair for 3 years and then became a live-out nanny. I have been working for several families over the years and looked after children from 0 to 15y.o. I have very good references I can provide. I have also been tutoring and teaching French to some of the children.
In my present position, I am looking after 3 bilingual children (10, 8 and 2) who are homeschooled. I have been working with them for the past two years.
My Qualifications
I have completed a HND in Corporate Communications, then I graduated in applied linguistics (I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences of Language and Communication). I am very interested in speech development and passionate about language acquisition and about psychology. I have mostly been working for multilingual families so was able to help, using my knowledge and skills to encourage the children speak a second/third language.
I have also completed courses in Safeguarding children; Physical development and Brain development in the early years. (all PCD certified)
I also have an up to date paediatric first aid certificate, an enhanced DBS check and liability insurance.
My Availability
I am seeking a permanent, full time, live out position (Ideally 40hrs per week 9am to 5pm). Local to Forest Hill is preferable too.
I will consider working part-time if I can find another family to get additional hours with.

Julie has been a huge asset to our family for nearly two years, looking after our now 10, 8 and almost 3 year old. She is very friendly, caring and professional and in those two years, there has never been a cause for concern or argument. Julie is very reliable and has made my return to work very easy as I have great confidence in her.
She has great knowledge of milestones and has helped teach my youngest daughter phonics and counting. She always sets up amazing educational outings and activities.
On top of her normal duties, Julie was also responsible for facilitating my two eldest homeschooling activities and lessons, she was especially great at making sure their homework was timely done.
She really has been like a mum to my children and I am so grateful for that.
I would be happy to recommend her to anyone looking to hire a nanny in the SE23 area!
