My Experience
Hello,
My name is Emma and I am 24 years old. have worked with children since I was about 16 years old. In nurseries, at breakfast and afterschool clubs, as an au pair and I have been looking after children for different families privately as well. I have over about 3-4 years of experience with working with children.
I am kind, trustworthy, loyal and I find it easy to build relationships with new people. The most important thing to me is to make sure that I am creating a safe and loving environment for children to be able to develop in the best way possible.
When I was 18, I looked after children of the ages of 3 months - 2 years for 3 weeks as a summer job in Sweden.
Then I moved to the UK in 2017, I was an Au pair. I worked for family with a 3 year old girl and a 5 year old girl. I was with them for over a year and it was a great experience. It was from May 2017 until the end of beginning of July 2018. I was dropping them off and picking them up from reception/nursery. I would take them to play dates in different places, go to parks and the local library. I made dinner and breakfast for the girls and would babysit some evenings as well. I was also responsible for the girls laundry and I would heal them with their homework. On days off, we would go for activities like a day out at London zoo or arrange a play date in the park.
When I finished my au pair year, I started working as a breakfast and after school club leader and I combined this job with private babysitting for a 9 year old boy. During breakfast and after school club, I was responsible for serving breakfast, plan daily activities, work as a team with the other playworkers, walk the children from the club to their school. The children was between 5-12 years old. I also did my pediatric first aid training while working in the club. When I was doing the babysitting for the 9 year old boy, I would pick him up from school and take him back home and we would do the activities that he wished to do and I’d help him with his homework. Both these jobs was between September 2018-January 2019.
I then had an admin role for a couple of months, but realized it was not for me so I went back to childcare and worked as a nursery nurse from May 2019 until the beginning of September 2019. I worked with children between the ages of 3 months to 6 years old and I was mainly in the baby room. I was responsible for feeding children, putting them to bed, set up activities focused on the EYFS curriculum, I was responsible for the Boogie Mites dancing and singing activity that took place every Tuesday, nappy changing and creating positive relationships with parents as well as the children and co workers.
During the beginning of 2021 I worked at Tinkys Day Nursery. I was in the baby room and had responsibilities within that room that would correspond with the EYFS learning curve. It involved setting up different type of activities, being part of a team, be there for the children and create a functioning workspace. I enjoyed working with the team at Tinkys
Since April 2021, I have been working as a nanny for a family in St Johns Wood. I have loved being a part of their family but as they are moving back to the states in April/May this year, I am now looking for a new position. I have been responsible for 3 children (newborn, B3 and B5) and it has been great. Daily tasks have included: making breakfast, getting them ready for school/nursery, weaning baby and putting her down for naps, engaging her in tummy time and development as she’s been growing, making lunch for B3 when he was not in nursery, take him to playgrounds and play dates, sort out different activities, be responsible for childrens laundry, clean and tidy up their rooms, change beds, give children baths every evening, make dinner, babysit on occasions, be flexible, organise childrens clothes and toys, empty dishwasher, keep kitchen and playing spaces tidy etc.
