My Requirements
We are looking for an enthusiastic, fun and patient support worker/carer to look after our son. He is 19 years old with autism, epilepsy, learning disabilities and is non-verbal.
He is sweet and cheerful and enjoys array of activities such as going outside, sensory play and listening to music. We need someone who is fun, empathetic and has kind-hearted nature. This is an exciting opportunity to join team of carers all of whom have been with us for over 2 years.
Various hours are available (up to 20 hours a week) two afternoons per week after school from 4 pm, Saturdays or Sundays and around 2 days during the school holidays.
Experience - Someone who has relevant experience of individuals with autism and learning disabilities. Ideally we are looking for someone who understand and can calmly and appropriately deal with seizures, but we can give full training, experience of epilepsy is not essential. You need to be able to relate to non-verbal individuals and help provide both a safe and happy environment.
Both formal and informal training will be given, alongside plenty of support.
