My Summary
About Me
I am a nice fun and friendly person, I’m honest and punctual, I work well in a team but also on my own as I like to set myself goals which I will achieve, I have good listening and communication skills. I have a creative mind and am always up for new challenges.
My Experience
My current position is full-time and 45 hours a week working with a family in Henley-in-Arden in a very big house where I am employed as a Domestic Help (60%) and a nanny (40%) of the time.
I began this role at the start of Lockdown and work alongside mum who at my time of starting had a boy 18 months and was carrying their second child.
I supported with all aspects of weaning with both children and their care and well being.
My domestic duties here involve arriving at 7am to prepare breakfast to a very high standard and clean up the kitchen and then tidy up all rooms and hoover and mop the house, clean bathrooms and re-make beds. I am responsible for all of the family laundry and re-stocking supplies and arranging visits for maintenance and the over-all day to day running of the home; including recycling
I ensure the outside and inside look spick and span at all times including bathrooms twice weekly and polishing of silverware and re-making all beds in this five bedroomed and four bath roomed home.
Preparing lunch and sometimes making dinners before I leave.
Polishing dads shoes and ensuring his work clothes are ready.
Also during holidays doing a spring clean involving cleaning of skirting boards, blinds, windows both inside and out, sticky finger marks off the glass and walls and the two cars etc.
I also spend time with both children together and on an individual basis. planning activities for them to keep them engaged and content.
Prior to my current position I was nannying in private home in Balsall Common and Nether Whitacre to parents who have shared access and have taken care of a little boy since his was caring for a 6-month old baby until he is now due to start school nursery. For a family with 4 children. I am involved in all aspects of school life; including school pick-ups and homework and celebrations in the family home such as Diwali and Christmas. Both parents are extremely business driven and both run their own recruitment companies. I am looking for a full-time and permanent position . I started this position on a temporary basis for 6 weeks to cover the previous nannies absence and they are very pleased with my interaction with their son and delighted at how well I have integrated into their family. that they decided to take me on full-time.
My Teaching Experience
Background Information RE the school-
Gunter Primary is a mixed community school with a separate Foundation Unit and is one-form entry. With 259 pupils on roll aged from 3-11 years. This is an average-sized primary school. Nearly one third of pupils are known to be eligible for free school meals, which is an above-average proportion. About four in ten pupils come from minority ethnic backgrounds, which is also above average. The
largest minority ethnic groups are Caribbean and mixed White British and Caribbean. A broadly average proportion of pupils are supported at the school action plus stage, or have a statement of educational needs, including some recently admitted pupils with significant behavioural, emotional and social difficulties.
My time at Gunter Primary began whilst undertaking my final teaching practice where the head teacher due to take retirement recommended me to the new head. I then spent two years working as an NQT in Year 1 where I was very happy.
A position in Early Years came up and I was asked to consider it. I spent a year here and then took a year for maternity leave.
On my return following maternity leave I came back part-time and did a job-share in the Foundation Stage Unit where I remained for some time.
When teachers where given planning time in school part of my role became to cover PPA throughout the school. Which I feel will stand me in good stead for a Supply Teaching Post as I have experienced teaching in both upper Key Stage 2 (Year 5) Upper Key Stage 1 (Year 3) and Lower Key Stage 1 (Year 1) and Early Years.
My specialists’ areas have been RE, PHSE and PE where I currently lead Healthy Schools and work alongside experts in their field to organise competitions both in school and out.
As part of my PHSE Role I ran Healthy Cooking classes after school to enable parents to work alongside their children to educate themselves on healthier cooking techniques and ingredients.
Working alongside the FOODNET Team I audited a sample of the children’s lunchboxes across the school and wrote a Healthy Lunchbox Policy which was agreed and passed by School Governors and all children, dinner supervisors and staff adherer to. Giving out stickers at lunchtimes and certificates during special celebration assembly every Friday to raise the profile and motivate all involved.
I too am the main link in a Sports Partnership as part of my current PE Coordinators role and not only arrange events within our school (Level 1 Competition) but also ensure that staff are aware of any up and coming events and training to. During an Inspection parental surveys were sent out and I noted that they would like extra after-school clubs. As a school we now have clubs running most evenings with a Villa Coach coming on Monday, Football Tuesday and Street Dance Classes on Thursdays. On top of this I have arranged for the current Year 5 teacher to go on some training to get a Change For Life Club up and running and have made great links with Featherstone School; which has won several awards and their PE specialist is extremely keen to work with me to help me up-skill both staff, clubs and competitions.
As part of my links with Kingsbury Sports Partnership I recently took a group if Year 5 pupils on a course to train to become Ambassadors and Play-Leaders for the school. We organised a meeting with the head- teacher at Gunter who is keen for us to get going with this exciting new initiative which has a group of pupils working together; each with a different skill set and similar to school council but this is just for sport.
I am in the process of setting up and training the children to become Play-Ground Buddies which will be delivered across the entire school so that everyone has ownership of this.
I have written my Action Plan to get started on this fantastic new initiate and delivered both the staff training during a recent meeting and the whole school assembly to invite the children to apply. I will then spend ten weeks training the group so that they feel happy and confident to resolve conflict on the playground.
During this time I joined a Supply Agency and on the days that I was not at Gunter I did a range of Supply jobs covering the Primary Sector in and around Sutton Coldfield.
Prior to this position I worked as a Classroom Assistant / Teaching Assistant in Nursery and Reception at Alcott Hall School in Chemsley Wood. September 1991 – August 1999
On leaving college my first position was as follows -

Post Graduate Certificate in Education

I am an enthusiastic, self-motivated, reliable, responsible and hard working person. I am a mature team worker and adaptable to all challenging situations. I am able to work well both in a team environment as well as using own initiative. I am well organised and always plan ahead to make sure I manage my time well.
I have spent many years working in Early Years which I am passionate about, however, I have also covered classes from Upper Key Stage 2; Year 5 and Lower Key Stage 2; Year 3.
When I embarked on my teaching career I spent two years teaching in Year 1.
With regard to behaviour management I feel strongly that prevention is better than cure and positive praise in the form of stickers, special assemblies and smiley faces are given to those children who adhere to the rules. I spend time ensuring that children are all familiar with the class rules which are written together and a discussion would follow as to why rules are important. If children feel they own the rules and have a deep understanding of why they are in place, then rules will become naturally more effective.
Establishing good relationships and trust between children and adults is paramount towards creating a good working environment. Giving clear warnings with regard to consequences, be it time out or a letter home.
At Gunter Primary we currently use the Assertive mentoring system which gives three strikes and you’re in time out approach. Followed by record keeping to share with parents.
Children are predominantly one of four types of learners: visual, auditory, kinesthetic or tactile.
I believe that it is vital to pick and mix your teaching style in order to address which learning style best suits each pupil. Ears, eyes, body and hands are the way to remember the four types of learners. As a primary teacher I recognise which learning style best suits each pupil and adapt my teaching style in order to boost attainment.
