My Summary
About Me
I have worked with children, new-born up to the age of 17 both in various settings. As it stands I have a level three EYFS, level three children and young people’s workforce, level three Childcare learning and development and a cache level four Safeguarding. I also obtain various other qualifications including Level two food safety, nutrition, managing behaviour, medication, inclusion and fulfilling the role of the KEY person through my own personal development. I am currently studying Health and Social care degree through the open university.
I understand that the early years of a child's life are the stepping stones to a successful future. I work hard to provide the child with stimulating activities which will promote their learning and development.
I am an active, creative, friendly, patient, hardworking and highly motivated practitioner, inspired by looking after children. At a younger age I frequently cared for my little sister as well as the other children who came within my house due to my mother being a child-minder. There was usually around 3-4 young children within my household during the day ageing from new-born up to six but working within another childcare setting started to develop a professional interest in Childcare.
Since college I have gone on to live-in fulltime nanny positions within the UK. I really love and enjoy working with children, I always ensure to provide safe and loving environments. I am naturally very caring but I always ensure that I use adequate discipline when necessary. I strongly believe in establishing boundaries to encourage good behaviour, and always explain consequences to children rather than express anger.
I have also worked within a family whom mother died quite suddenly in which the children dealt with bereavement, OCD and anxiety and I feel I can provide supportive and consistent care even with children who display challenging behaviour.
I have a full clean driving licence and I own and have access to my own car.
I am an active person and in my spare time, I am a keen jogger, traveller, dog walker, fisher and I love exploring outdoors and being creative & imaginative. This year I hope to learn a new language, learn the bagpipes and climb Ben Nevis (now completed) I am also a very creative person within the home and always open to new ideas. I have always shared and encouraged experiences with the children and young people within my care where I feel appropriate.
I am a very open minded and fun person in which children and young people can relate to and to feel safe and secure around. I feel it is important to guide children and young people along their path providing care and support where needed.
Throughout my years of working within different environments, each child is different, and one may need more support than another; however, I feel it is important that a child and young people knows support is on hand when they need it the most. I also gain knowledge of child development as well as attachment theory.
I am able to build and develop healthy and professional relationships and make sure each child’s physical, social and emotional needs are met.
I am able to work professionally independently and within a small team in a hierarchical system. I feel communication is the key to a happy and successful partnership between colleagues, families and young people to provide the best possible life experiences as well as a great way of sharing experiences and ideas. This can be done in a creative way, helping children and young people express their personalities and thoughts in a positive way.
I am able to work within a supportive role to children, young people and parents in a crisis situation, using TCI techniques such as behaviour support and emotional first aid.
I have experienced and able to run a very busy household ensuring all aspects of the home are well maintained including cleaning, laundry, gardening, decorating, maintain fabric within the home and making sure all administrative documents and diaries are kept up to date, printed and stored appropriately.
I have always cooked and enjoyed cooking from a young age and I am also a very keen baker. As I am gluten and lactose intolerable I have always cooked from scratch and very aware of providing balanced and nutritious meals. I have always involved children and young people within my care to be involved and learn new skills such as cooking a healthy and basic meal as this is a skill they will use for the foreseeable future.
