Hello!
Our names are Nicola and Andrew and we are an established husband and wife childminding team.
We have been married for 15 years and working as childminders together for 8 years.
We are both registered childminders in Birchgrove/Heath, Cardiff, within walking distance to the UHW. We are both registered to look after 14 children under the age 12, 6 of which can be under the age 5.
We mainly look after 3/4 children a day under 5.
We have a large playroom where the children can take part in activities such as arts and crafts, cooking, imaginary play with our diner setting, dressing up, dolls and cars and much more!
This leads to our outside garden area. We have a fantastic, secure, play area with No Mow Artificial Grass allowing children the freedom to play out all year round. We have plenty of garden toys, cars and trikes, play house, swings, Little Tikes climbing frame with a slide and table and chairs.
In our front room we have books and baby sensory toys to allow the younger ones some quiet and 1 on 1 time when needed.
We also plan weekly outings where the children have the opportunity to explore the world around them.
Our aim is to provide the best care and services for you and your child. We will provide a safe, happy, stimulating and caring home based environment, where your child will have the routine of home life as well as a nursery based education. We ensure we meet the relevant needs of your child by continually reviewing your child's development and behaviour and talking to you daily.
We follow the Foundation Phase Children’s Learning for Wales. This is the Early Years Education for 3-5 year olds and Key Stage 1 5 - 7 year olds, combined together.
Each day the children greet all their friends for a fantastic day of fun, and learning. making sure they all go home feeling happy and contented.
As there are two of us your child will always receive lots of care and attention in our small group, something that all our existing parents value.
We have 3 children of our own, a black Labrador Retriever puppy called Dexter and do not smoke.
Being a Childminder is one of the most rewarding jobs, we take it very seriously and ensure while we look after your children we do the very best by them every day.
My Experience
We are both fully registered childminder with the Care and Social Service Inspectors of Wales (CSSIW).
We have 3 children
We have been registered childminders for the past 7 years, I was previously a registered childminder when my older 2 we're young for 5 years.
My Qualifications
Both have level 3 in CHACHE
Both First Aid for children and babies
Both passed food hygiene course
Food hygiene rating 5
Both passed child protection level 2
Child protection level 3
Both follow the new Childcare national standards April 2011
Both follow foundation phase learning for children in Wales.
Attended toddler calm dealing with behaviour.
Safety at home and out and about.
My Availability
We work between the hours of 7:45am - 6pm Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.00 per hour
Our fees are £47.50 a day between 8am - 5:30pm this includes all meals snacks and outings.
7:45am-8:00am £2.50
5:30pm - 6pm £2.50 extra

My son Lucas spent 2.5 years with Nicola and Andrew and he absolutely loved it. He was so happy and I left him there knowing that he was being cared for in a wonderful setting.
Whenever I picked him up he was always beaming as he told me about all the fun things he had done and learnt that day.
Lucas' is now in school but I would not hesitate in recommending Contented Kids to anyone who is looking for a childminder in the local area.

We are almost 5 months into our Journey with Contented Kids and we could not be happier.
Our son its incredibly well looked after and is always happy when I pick him up.
Nicola and Andrew do a fantastic job with him and go the extra mile to help us out with his medical needs.

My daughter about to turn two, has just started childcare with Nicola and her husband. When we went to see the house my daughter walked straight in and started playing with toys, she never acts like this at a strangers house. We've since had two weeks of half day settling in sessions and she has loved them. When I turn up she greets me and then goes off to carry on playing. I have no qualms in recommending this fantastic childcare couple.

We are blessed to have a childminder like Nicola and Andrew. Having been in various nurseries across the country during early years, we found this friendly and caring childminder for our son. It is so convenient that they pick him up from birchgrove primary school (for last 3 years). My son really enjoys going to their house and feels at home. Being parents themselves, Nicola and Andrew are so caring, dedicated and clearly understand what we expect. They have a very flexible approach and can give a helping hand even in short notice which makes our life as a doctor-a lot more easier. I would certainly recommend them to my friends. Keep up the good work..you are always in our prayers.

I really cannot recommend contented kids childcare highly enough. Nicola and Andrew have looked after my daughter for the last 3 years. The experiences and nurturing she has in their care is second to none. Thanks to them I have watched my little girl develop into a confident and caring child. If you want childcare that is enthusiastic, inclusive, consistent, imaginative, and fun all set in a homely, clean environment with providers that are experienced, approachable, flexible and have a great sense of humour, then these are the childminders for you! Thanks both, you are fantastic at what you do, keep up the good work!!

We met Nicola and Andrew through friends who recommend us to them after struggling to get my daughter settled in a nursery, 2 nurseries later, we agreed a meeting and felt at home straight away! Nicola and Andrew took time to listen to our needs for our daughter to ensure she had the right care, you can tell they work well together and the children really enjoy their days. We were amazed at how quickly our girl settled in and Hermione - their daughter is all she talks about and how they are best friends! I always had doubts about a childminder as I wanted my daughter to have plenty of friends to play with, but with Nicola and Andrew working together, she's got plenty of friends to play with and also the one on one time she obviously needed to get settled and has totally flourished in their care.

Nicola and Andrew have been caring for our little boy, who is now nearly 3 years old, for the past 2 years. He asks if he can visit almost every morning (including weekends!), and as a working mum, I have to say that it is such a comfort to know that he is happy while I am away.
This is in no small part to the time and energy that goes into making sure that the children feel at home, and that they receive plenty of individual attention. There is also home-cooked food, plenty of fun activities, a variety of outings, as well as plenty of time to play in the fantastic playroom and enclosed garden.
It isn't just the children who are well looked after - the parents are as well. As a previous reviewer has already mentioned, Nicola and Andrew send photos frequently and write in a diary every day. Catching up on my son's day is one of the highlights of mine. The flexibility that they offer is great too, with nothing ever seeming to be too much trouble.
So if you were to ask if I would recommend Nicola and Andrew... my answer is most definitely "yes".

Nichola and Andrew provided a caring, home setting for my son and he thrived in the happy environment and we as a family could not have been happier with our choice of childcare.

Nicola and her family make my 2.5 year old feel completely at home. Lovely family home and fantastic child friendly garden. My daughter always has healthy and varied home cooked food and does a wide variety of fun and educational activities every day.
They take the kids on trips around Cardiff on the buses and trains and always out at a park or garden when it's sunny. I have a hard time trying to drag my daughter away at the end of the day.
I get a diary at the end of the day to let me know what my daughter has been up to, eaten, potty activity, naps etc. I also get txt updates and pictures throughout the day especially if my little girl is a bit out of sorts.
Nicola is always very accommodating with any changing needs and can even pick up from a local nursery too.

Thank you so much for your review, your daughter is a pleasure to be around and makes our days easy, fun and exciting, especially love having our 'tea parties' and a good chin wag! she has grown up so much in the last 2 years! Glad we are still able to look after her when she starts nursery.
