My Summary
About Me
Hi Parents, my name is Bridget. I am an English/German bilingual nanny with 10 years of experience. I am seeking a new full-time (and long-term) position. I am currently also available for short term and as hoc bookings. I can provide excellent references from all the families I have worked for. I look forward to hearing from you!
My Experience
I am a professional, degree-qualified Nanny with over 10 years of experience working with children from ages 4 months to 13 years. I recently completed a B.A. in Childhood and Youth Studies from The Open University. I embarked on this degree to enhance my practical experience and to build a firm base of theoretical knowledge to support my professional development along my career path.
I believe in building a solid, loving bond with the children and working as a strong team with their parents to raise children who are well-rounded individuals.
I was raised in a bilingual, international environment and am confident in navigating both German- and English-speaking households and cultures. I have successfully supported language-development in both languages for both pre-school and school-age children and have provided academic support in both languages. Children’s emotional, social and academic needs are my primary focus so that I am able to care for each unique child in a tailored and holistic way. I support children’s social development through managing their play date schedule und place great importance on strengthening the bond between siblings and extended family.
Being able to read music, I comfortable with supporting children’s musical development. I love extending children’s music appreciation through singing their favourite songs and teaching them about rhythm and movement. I enjoy supporting children’s imagination and creativity through a variety of arts and crafts. On special occasions I encourage children to show their affection or appreciation through hand-crafted cards, decorations or baking.
I have obtained the Leiths Professional Essential Cooking Certificate, which has provided me, over the course of six months, with in-depth knowledge on nutrition, food safety and dietary requirements. Cooking is one of my passions and I enjoy preparing balanced, nutritious meals for the children and families in my care. I enjoy sharing this passion with children in my care, I ensure that they are introduced to a variety of tastes and enjoy broadening their palates. I believe that cooking and baking with children is a valuable educational experience, developing the children’s life skills and independence.
Having been raised in Australia, Canada and Germany, I love the great outdoors and the many opportunities to explore nature. I think it is important for children to learn about the world around them. I therefore make it a priority to spend time outside, discovering the local parks, woods, forests and gardens such as RHS Kew and Wisley. Having spent much time in my youth as a competitive swimmer and having qualified as a lifeguard in Canada, I enjoy introducing children to water activities. Canada also provided plenty of opportunity for skiing and ice skating.
As a holder of a British, German and Australian passport I am able to and happy to travel with a family for extended period of time. I have excellent experience in children’s wardrobe management, sourcing vacation wardrobe requirements, packing and managing jetlag.
With my full British licence without any endorsements, I am confident in driving children to and from various appointments in Britain or Europe and have extensive experience in doing so. I am an owner-driver.
I am confident in attending children’s medical and educational appointments. I have experience in adhering to daily medication schedules and managing severe allergies in young children.
I enjoy looking after family dogs and have been instrumental in raising and training a Labrador puppy in a previous position. I have a cat-hair allergy.
