Employment History
From September 2022 I am fully booked every session

Woodpeckers Before and After School Club, Westdale Infant School premises from 2012 to May 2019
I was the Manager of Woodpeckers Before and After School Club from October 2012. They were registered for up to 40 children aged 3-11 years. I managed the day to day running of the Club including rotas for the staff activities, supervising the children's activities and communicating with the parents/carers. I was Manager at the Club during 3 Ofsted Inspections and had a ‘Good’ outcome each time.

Daisy Chain Childcare Day Nursery May 1997 to August 2002
I set this Day Nursery up with a colleague. We ran it for 5 years. We were registered for 45 children aged from 6 weeks old. We also provided before and after school care.

Notts Youth Training Agency: Child Care and Education Lecturer and Assessor of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ); December 1994 to 1997
I delivered underpinning knowledge and assess candidates in NVQ Level II for Childcare and Education.
Basford Hall College: Child Care and Education Lecturer and Assessor of National Vocational Qualification (NVQ); September 1994 to 1997
Since September 1994 I lectured and assessed an NVQ evening course in NVQ Level II Child Care and Education at Basford Hall College of Further Education. An assessor must assess objectively and without bias, to national standards, levels of competence in candidates and to assist candidates in gathering evidence of their levels of competency.

Notts CC: Under Eights Officer; December 1994 to March 1995
During October 1994 I successfully applied for the post of Under Eights Officer. This position followed directly after the position of temporary Assistant was completed. The Under Eights Officers reported directly to the Senior Under Eights Officer and were responsible for the provision of advice, registration, inspection and development of child minding and day care services in accordance with the Children Act 1989 for one or more districts. An Officer was also responsible for efficient and effective deployment of available resources and staff which normally includes an assistant and a Peripatetic Play Leader.

Notts CC: Assistant Under 8s Officer; 11 October 1993 to March 1994 and July 1994 to December 1994
The role included the provision of advice, registration, inspection and development of day care services in accordance with the Children Act 1989. This included advice on health, safety, hygiene, fire procedures, basic first aid and child development.
To undertake routine inspections/reviews of registered childminders and associated premises in accordance with defined frequencies and procedures.
To give information, about the requirements to register, to prospective childminders.
To produce service information and reports on visits as required and provide information and data necessary for the maintenance of effective recording systems.

Notts CC: Peripatetic Playleader; February 1989 to March 1995
The role included the development of new playgroups, acting as Playleader in the absence of trained staff, providing practical advice and guidance to staff and parents with regard to services available, training, play provision, materials and use of equipment. I enabled the staff to manage their own group, by offering advice on record keeping of the childrens' information, registration process, inventory of equipment and record of fire drills. I planned and organised group play sessions and the layout of the room taking into consideration the regulations that need to be adhered to under the Children Act 1989, this included staff ratio to children, hygiene and safety including play equipment and the premises.
I also attended crèches, childminding and parent and toddler groups and demonstrate good play practice to carers.
As a Peripatetic Playleader, I worked with children and families from different ethnic groups, cultures, religions and different social backgrounds. I ran the Deaf Society parent & toddler group and have worked on a one to one basis with a five year old Downs Syndrome little girl. I ran the crèche at the Women's Centre where women of all ages, races and sexualities, often suffering physical or mental violence, arrived in a state of trauma. I learned from these various situations to accommodate different view points and ways of doing things while still maintaining high standards.

Notts CC: Playgroup Assistant; February 1989 to October 1990
As a playgroup assistant at South Notts College playgroup I was in charge over the lunch time period when the two other trained staff went for lunch. It was necessary to answer the phone, sort out any queries, mark the register as children came and went and provide a safe, stimulating environment relevant to the ages and development of the children present.

Voluntary/Unpaid Work
I have been going into both Westdale Infant School and Bleasby Church of England School to help in my grandchildrens’ classes over the last 10 years.
