My Summary

My Experience

Having worked across both Key Stages, I am currently on maternity leave and therefore am able to offer tutoring sessions beginning straight after school. I have a passion for teaching in inventive and child-led ways. I am also experienced in helping children prepare for the Key Stage 2 SATs, 11+ exams and entrance exams for various secondary schools.

I am experienced in delivering phonics learning to early readers as well as helping children of all ages with reading difficulties on their own, individual learning journeys. I am passionate about identifying children’s specific area of need and adapting my teaching accordingly.

As a child myself, I struggled to make progress in maths and it all felt so confusing to me. I then had a wonderful maths teacher in secondary school and almost magically, everything began to make sense! My own struggles in maths have helped me as a teacher - to deliver maths in innovative and fun ways. I truly believe that every child can excel at maths, once they believe in themselves.

After graduating, I initially worked as an LSA, supporting several children with varying special educational needs over a 2 year period. These needs were wide-ranged and included autism, dyslexia and global developmental delay. This experience has greatly influenced my practice as a teacher. I approach each session with patience and kindness and firmly believe that happy children learn best.

As a class teacher, I am required to fully differentiate my teaching, catering for those children with any barriers to learning; motivating those who are exceptionally able to perform at their highest capacity and supporting those who are achieving at the expected level, but perhaps need a little extra support.

I am available weekdays, evenings and Saturdays.

• Tutoring from £35.00 per hour

£30.00 per hour depending on travel.
