About Me

Hi my name is Sam, I am an Ofsted registered and approved Childminder. I have a rare availability come up from September 2024 term time only Tuesday and Wednesday. 7:45-4:30. Please get in touch.
I’ve obtain a Good Ofsted inspection in November 2022. I am a mum of 3. 2 girls and a boy aged 13, 10 and 3 years. I have always had a passion for working with children and being a huge part in watching and facilitating them to grow and learn. Even from a young age I always had an erg to want to be around children and see how I could make a difference in their lives.

My Experience

I have been in the childcare industry for just over 18 years. I currently hold a Diploma in Childcare and Education level 3. Which I obtained at college. I also hold a Paediatric First Aid Certificate. I hold an enhanced DBS and have a full clean driving license. I started working for a small local private day nursery. This is where I really found myself and was able to flourish being around a mix of children from the ages of 3 months to 5 years. I was able to turn my passion into reality and really inspire children’s learning through play. I was there for almost 8 years. I worked hard and was rewarded with a promotion to room leader and then went on to become the deputy manager and also an interim manager whilst they looked for another. Watching all these children grow and develop really gave me a sense of achievement and watching them leave and go to school with all the confidence and abilities they needed for their big day was incredible. I worked well in a team and was very well respected and have made some lifelong friends which I still speak to today. I had an extremely good repour with the parents and carers too. This it paramount to the success of the children, working in partnership is really important to me and I feel this is one of my strengths. After giving birth to Skye (our first born) our world changed and I felt even more compelled to make a difference in her life and others. I was fortunate enough to go back to work and bring Skye along with me. So, I felt she was truly getting the best of both worlds. Then we were expecting Holly and we felt that when she was born, that was a good opportunity for me to be at home with the children. We happened to be in a fortunate position that we could do this. Being a stay at home mum was a little strange at first and we had just move to Maidenhead too, so I didn’t know many people. I threw myself into lots of toddler groups and classes with both Skye and Holly. Before long I found my feet and some friends. That is when I truly thought about how much knowledge I had obtained over my many years for childcare and working in the nursery that I have all I need to be able to watch my children grow and provide a home from home settling. It was wonderful having those years with them. I felt very proud and privileged to be able to have the best of both worlds. However, days forward and they both started school and Nursery. I began to feel quite lonely and in need to having children. around me. I volunteered at the school and nursery. I also did a fair amount of babysitting and made a few connections. It was until more recently that I felt compelled to apply to become a childminder. I thought I can provide the care from my own home and also be able to be
there for my own children. It was then I thought I would be able to provide a very nurturing environment very similar to how we brought up our girls and follow the curriculum as needed. After a long journey and also having Covid- 19 get in the way a little, I can proudly say I am an Ofsted registered childminder. I couldn’t feel prouder and more ready to provide care and begin to enjoy the company other children too. I’ve called my business Sam’s Childcare but my slogan is hooray “it’s a Sam day” this has come from many children over the years staying to me hooray we are seeing Sam today. It felt very fitting to use this and it is very special to me. After having our third child, Myles in July 2021, we made the big decision to relocate our family nearer to the sea. Something we always thought we may do if the opportunity came up. This was a big change for us all. New house, new baby brother, new area and new schools. We decided as a family it would be best to take a longer
maternity leave and get to know the area and build some connections and make some friends before starting up childminding again. I knew I could do this as we had done it before a few years before. I’m now happy, content and confident I can explore our wonderful surroundings whilst caring for other children now.
