My Summary
About Me
Update
I am now unavailable .
I have been working as a part time, after school nanny for children at St John’s C of E Primary School since leaving part time nprimary school teaching in 2019. My current lovely family are sadly moving out of area so I will be looking for a new family from Easter for 1- 3 afternoons per week (Monday, Tuesday and Thursday).Or would consider 1 whole day.
My Experience
I am a qualified primary school teacher and have worked with children all my working life.
My husband and I have 4 grown up children, 3 of whom now happily married and just beginning families of their own.
I homeschooled my own children up to secondary age, when we lived and worked in a children’s centre in rural Uganda which involved teaching and caring for orphans of all ages including those with special needs. Since returning to the UK I have supported young families with homework help and babysitting on an informal basis alongside a part time teaching job and caring for my mum who lived with us from 2015- 2023
Sadly June 2023 we had to move Mum into full time nursing care so I now run a small part time gardening business in the mornings and available to nanny 3 afternoons per week (with 2 days a week being a Grandma) Or would also consider 1 full day.
I absolutely love the encouragement and learning experiences children can gain through 1-1 interaction hence my decision to leave class based teaching and embark on nannying and can still use my teaching experience to help with homework and making learning fun and not a chore. I regularly help with childcare for my 2 (soon to be 3) young grandchildren and have been nannying after school, part time, since 2019 and absolutely love it! I’ve been able to use my teaching experience in my nannying so far, to help with homework and any struggles they may have. A favourite part of my nannying is having time to just have fun through various activities such as cooking, playing games and especially outdoor fun!
