About Me

My name is Gwen and I live with my partner Gavin, and our three young children. I am a registered childminder working from my home in Crymlyn Parc Skewen.

I currently have room for 3 children.
As a registered child minder I aim to provide a child minding service for both boys and girls, to learn and develop in a safe, secure, home based environment. I have a contained back garden, comprising of hard play areas and a large grass area with high fencing and a lockable gate.
There is a children play area just around the corner. We do not have any family pets. Play will be at the centre of the child's learning and development and a wide range of activities and experiences appropriate to the age and stage of development will be offered. The children will also be taken to a number of local places such as shops, parks, library and parent toddler groups. I also believe in providing a balanced diet to promote good healthy living.

My premises and I have been inspected by the CSSIW and will continue to be inspected biannually. I am registered with The Care and Social Services Inspectorate Wales, to care for up to 10 children under the age of 12 years. I will work closely with parents to provide the best care.

I am a young and energetic person, the activities will reflect this by their delivery. English is my first language but having worked in a school for such a long period of time, I have learned a basic amount of the Welsh language.

I will meet with the parents before their child starts to discuss all the standards and polices that I have in place. My routines will be discussed and then hours, rates can be agreed and the contract put in place. Once we have agreed that I can provide the service that the parent is looking for, a settling in period will commence. Parents will be asked to visit the home setting prior to starting the child minding to help the child get used to the surroundings, maybe even leaving the child in the setting for a short time to ease the child into the setting. Once the child minding has started I will meet with the parents on a regular basis whilst caring for their children and a journal will be kept on each child documenting their progress and performance throughout the child minding period. This way any concerns, queries or any other information, such as child's progress, can be discussed.
