About Me
Hi my name is Maria Alasu. I am an Ofsted registered, qualified childminder based in Southport, Merseyside and I enjoy working with children. I specialise in children aged 0-8 years and also offer after-school childcare for 8-16 year old.
I offer a very high standard of care where all children are safe and loved. I have a comfortable and well equipped home, with a separate play room (with a wide range of toys and games), a kitchen with dining area. I provide home made healthy meals and snacks, drinks are available at all times
I offer lots of creative play, diverse activities and plenty of attention. I want all children to spend their time being very active; and let them discover the world through playing.
I treat children as individuals with respect to their own needs.
I would like to take care of your child's development in a professional and friendly way to get the best possible start in their lives. I offer high quality childcare in a secure and homely environment.
My Experience
I believe that using a childminder is beneficial for your child and beneficial to you as a parent. These are the reasons that I decided after more than 18 years in the childcare profession, (having worked as a nursery nurse) to set up my own business as a registered childminder.
One to one
I never over commit in terms of the amount of children I care for, ensuring they receive my undivided care and attention. Their wellbeing and happiness is my primary concern at all times.
Homely environment
I try hard to promote a 'home from home' environment, making your child's transition to my care as smooth as possible. I am also very aware of the need to support and reassure both children and their families during this transition.

Your child will always be cared for by me, allowing a sense of familiarity, trust and routine to develop.

Maria is a valuable member of staff has a excellent time keeping and a very good record when it comes to absence,she is honest and works well with all ranges of children.

Our son has been going to Maria and her family since 10 months old. Their childminding facilities are amazing. Huge playroom, each child has their own cot for naps, baking area, home grown fruit and veg, climbing frames and swings in the garden and even a chicken coop. The children have a great time and Maria has been a such an amazing support for us as new parents when our son was a young toddler. Her and Coco love the children to bits and we have made great friends for life in them. Taking our son to Maria and Coco had been one of the best decisions we ever made. Can’t thank them enough!

My daughter Phoebe who is our 2nd child went to Mari when she was 16 months old. This was the first time I'd let someone other than my family look after my children. I was nervous but as soon as I met and viewed Mari's home I instantly knew I wanted Phoebe to be looked after here. Mari and her husband, well her whole family including her daughter were so kind and welcoming. Phoebe always went in with a smile and came home with a smile on her face! She looked so comfortable with Mari and Coco! It really is a home from home experience and really put my mind at ease, knowing that she wouldn't be upset and if she was, I knew she wouldn't be for long. Highly, highly recommend Mari's childminding. A caring, professional childminder with a welcoming and friendly attitude.

Maria has been an extended part of our family, because of how important a role she (and Coco!) have played in our childrens lives, for nearly 5 years. Our youngest daughter has been with Maria since she was 8 months old and our son, now nearly 10, has enjoyed before/after school & holiday childcare during this time also.
From how her home is set up for the children she cares for to how she makes sure their learning & development is catered for with fun, creative tasks and games - I cannot recommend highly enough Maria as a childminder & we are so incredibly grateful for everything over these years. Coco has created an incredible setting in their beautiful back garden to give the children somewhere amazing to play together too! They are both completely focused on the experience of the children in their care.
Our youngest is about to start school and this changes our childcare needs, I feel like a big part of our 'life' is going to be missing as we will no longer be as reliant on Maria but we will still be keeping in touch - we have made friends for life x

Maria has been looking after my two children, Vincent & Vivienne since they were 8 months old. My son turns six next month & my daughter is now three and a half, so Maria & her lovely family have become a huge part of their lives. It really is a home away from home. They have always been happy going in & coming home, bringing pictures, things they have made & stories about their day with them. Marias experience has been a great help over the years, always on hand to offer advice on the perils of parenting! Her & husband are friendly, enthusiastic & exceedingly kind people whom I’m so glad I found to take care of my kids. I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending them.

James started going to Maria’s in April 2015. Having considered some nurseries I opted for a childminder and I could see that Maria’s setting was put together with care and consideration for the children she looked after. Summer-time in the garden at Maria’s house is unbeatable! James has developed into a confident, kind and well-adjusted little boy who is ready to start his new chapter joining primary school in September. Maria and her family will be sadly missed, and I can’t thank them enough for their love, support and care over the years.
