About Me
Hello, my name is Sophia and I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder and qualified early years educator, based in Stoke Newington of London. I have a full time assistant working alongside me ‘Bella, who is also currently studying a maths degree part time. We are Happy, Positive and Nurturing people, and use our experience and creativity to create a high quality provision within my home. The setting is in a lovely bright and welcoming Converted Victorian property.
The setting provides a nurturing environment in which the child is considered an important individual. The overall aim is to create a safe and secure home from home which meets the physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs of every child.
A bit more about the setting:
The setting is a bright and airy space, which is well equipped and provides a safe, stimulating environment where children can enjoy growing into confident, independent and sociable young people. The setting has the aim of giving children opportunities to develop holistically alongside their friends. I use engaging activities and experiences, emphasising on individuality and child centred flexibility, adapting interests into planning, and finding innovative and exciting ways to deliver the curriculum (The seven areas of Learning and Development).
At the setting I provide three meals a day and snacks based on a healthy and nutritious diet. Most of the food provided will be organic and locally sourced were possible.
There will be lots of opportunity for messy play and expressive arts and design, as previous to joining the sector of working with children and families, my subject was Art and design, to which I still very much enjoy. Bella also provides Spanish sessions during group time.
Communication and Language and Mathematics are prioritised in a practical way in all play activities. Promoting and encouraging children's learning through play, having them think for themselves and supporting sustained shared thinking, as part of their individual learning development growth.
There is a selection of parks super close to the setting where children who attend can have access to nature, providing the opportunity to and accommodating physical exercise and exploration of the natural environment outdoors.
My Experience
I have over 9 years of experience in working with children. Before opening the setting in September of 2019, I provided arts and crafts sessions at a private nursery and later became a practitioner, where my art sessions turned into a four years stay, with the responsibility of 7 key Children, covering transitions, from settling in, to school readiness. Within these years I also became qualified as an early years educator.
My Qualifications
Cache Level 3 Early Years Educator Diploma.
Level 4 QCF Award qualification Social care with Children and families.
Training in:
Pediatric First Aid
Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene for early years settings.
Supporting Children with Speech, Language and Communication Needs.
Safeguarding Children and Child Protection.
Delivering the EYFS.
My Availability
Childcare services opens from 8.00am until 6.00pm Monday to Thursday. Flexibility available.

We were recommended Sophia, My son was with Sophia at her home setting for 4 months the only reason we left was because we moved from the area, He was one year old when he started. Sophia and Bella really made us feel comfortable, so much attention was given to Albert he was always so happy with them. Sophia was so kind, thoughtful and had so many different activities for the kids, I believe my sons developments were partly down to Sophia and Bella and the other kids at the setting. She had a WhatsApp with me and my partner and updated us each day with his naps and timings, she made sure any specific nap requests etc were sorted. Any concerns we had she made sure to reassure us and was honestly so professional with everything she did. Genuinely so sad to of moved from the area, the first thing we thought was that we need to find another childcare option that’s just as good. All the meals and snacks were freshly prepared and the setting was always so clean and organised. We would quietly go up the stairs and see him playing and so happy! Our daughter has been with Sophia & Bella since she was 4 months old and she had the best time with them. She laughed, developed her curiosity and grew up a lot thanks to amazing activities and proper care. She received so much attention & love. I felt so relieved leaving her in the AM knowing she was in great hands and was truly happy to be there. Their sense of creativity is also amazing with lots of fun activities. i couldn’t recommend them more ❤️.

Sophia was our daughter's childminder since she was 8 months, and we couldn't have felt luckier to get a spot. We sought a safe, nurturing environment and Sophia's setting went above and beyond our expectations. The setting is a loving and gentle space with a small lovely mix of children. Unlike nurseries and childcare centres, this feels like a little home from home. Plus, Sophia provides what we working parents can't— nutritious and varied cooked meals daily, messy play and crafts activities, outdoor play, and soft indoor play. I always felt our daughter was in a safe pair of hands, Sophia is incredibly professional and communicative. Plus, a babysitter who your child knows well is super helpful. My daughter loves them, and we've felt so good knowing she is loved and cared for in return. We only wish she could stay longer.

Our daughter was under Sophia Lewis's care from October 2022 to April 2023, and the experience was truly outstanding. Our little one has been with Sophia and Bella for more than two years and we couldn’t have wished for better caregivers during their formative years. Sophia and Bella are both so wonderful, responsible and thoughtful, providing excellent, child specific, nurturing care with a gentle approach. They do so much with the space at the setting, whilst also making sure the children get plenty of time outside every day in one of the many local playgrounds. The food is excellent, varied and nutritious. Safety of the children is always considered to allow for explorative play within a safe environment. They are always thinking of new activities and tasks, guided by and building on the children’s interests, to develop all kinds of developmental skills and learning, tailored to the child and their individual needs and within the EYFS curriculum and beyond. Communication is excellent in person and via the app. I really appreciated knowing in real time about food, naps and toileting as well as seeing wonderful pictures of all the fun they were having. Our child has so much fun every day and has formed a real bond with both Sophia and Bella.
