About Me
I graduated from Middlesex University with a Bsc in Psychology with Counselling Skills in 2019 and worked in a primary school as a 1:1 special needs teacher until 2023. I stopped working in the school to pursue a Masters in child psychotherapy which I am currently doing part time. I am fun, bubbly and have lots of energy to share. I have worked with kids from the moment I started working from newborns up to teenagers! I speak fluent French (minus the few mistakes I may make) and play the piano and love to sing.
My Experience
This is the first step to eventually specialising in working with children with special needs. Since the age of 16 I have done work experience with children who have a variety of special educational needs, like, autism, ADHD, Dyslexia/dyspraxia, Downs Syndrome, PMLD, global development delay and more. I have worked one to one and as a class TA for day supply work and some longer-term placements. I worked in a charity in Watford which had day opportunities for young adults up to 21 years old, a children’s centre which presented itself as an after-school club and Saturday club. Tasks included: changing, feeding and supporting the clients. One child I supported was in year 1 and had autism.
For over 5 years I worked in a mainstream school as a 1:1 SEN teaching assistant. One child had hydrocephalus, spina bifida and was in a wheelchair. I then worked with two boys with autism for the past 2 years. I have had experience with new borns being an occasional babysitter for a couple of families with babies. I am currently studying an MA in child psychotherapy and am nannying alongside part time.
