About Me
I am a very positive, caring and active person who has always loved establishing relationships with children of different ages. I have a Masters Degree from Bristol University in Educational Psychology following an Undergraduate degree in Education, and have three years experience working alongside children. I have found that within my roles working with children my bubbly and enthusiastic nature has encouraged positive experiences and relationships, whilst maintaining boundaries when necessary. I believe in encouraging exploration, imagination and a sense of humour within all areas of my work. Through my experience, and education I have developed a deep understanding of child psychological and social development and the ability to incorporate creativity and innovative ideas to encourage engagement and excitement. I am extremely trust worthy, hard-working and organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks. I enjoy being creative, going to yoga and helping out on my mum's alpaca farm! I have a full clean driving license and my own car and I am looking to enhance my experience as a nanny with a friendly family.
My Experience
I've worked with children in a variety of different settings; in mainstream primary education and special needs schools, and privately as a nanny. I come from a family with a lot of children who i've helped look after, including my younger brothers and my goddaughter. I grew up on a farm so I feel very comfortable around animals and when caring for children really enjoy incorporating the outdoors into their learning and development. Throughout my years of study I worked part-time for a family as a nanny to their daughter from when she was three to six years old. This involved supporting with morning and evening routines which involved cooking, bath time and reading, caring for her after nursery/ school which included a variety of activities such as visits to the park, horse riding, swimming, baking and arts and crafts. As well as helping as supporting different phases of development and homework and school projects. Once I graduated, I worked for Education 1st in Bristol which is an alternative educational provision for children excluded from mainstream education, in this role I supported primary age children transition back into the education system. This involved providing one to one academic support and mentoring time to help develop social skills and emotional understanding. After a year in this role I started my Msc which has given me an in-depth foundation in child psychology which I feel enhances my understanding when working with children. My current role at The Sheiling School is supporting an eight year old boy with Austism and ADHD with learning as well as his social and emotional development. To do so I draw on nature, art, movement and music to inspire his enthusiasm and enjoyment of school. I believe that this thoughtful, gentle and holistic approach is the best method when working with children.
