About Me
Hello my name is Sarah and I am a childminder living in Great Dunmow. I live with my husband and two children aged 7 and 4 years. For the past 17 years I have worked as a Primary school teacher in Essex. I've mainly worked in Early Years and Key Stage 1 which is where I am most passionate. I love supporting children grow and learn and as my son started school in September I am looking forward to looking after other children alongside my daughter. I will help nurture them through fun and learning activities both at my house and on trips out whether it's just a walk in the forest or an activity group.
My Experience
1995-1999 various babysitting jobs, regular and ad hoc and working at Whippersnappers nursery in Felsted during school holidays
1999-2003 Part time nanny to three boys (starting age 5, 3 and 18 months) in London whilst studying at University. I also worked for Tumble Tots.
2003-2020 A number of teaching roles across all age ranges in primary schools across Essex. I have lots of experience with children with special needs ranging from mild learning difficulties to autism, cerebral palsy and downs syndrome. During school holidays I also worked at nurseries in Braintree.
2016 and 2019 Newborn experience with my son and daughter.
My Qualifications
2002 Honours degree from The University of Surrey in English and Pscychology
2003 Post Graduate Certificate of Education
1997 nine GCSEs
1999 three A-levels and teaching diploma
Lots of Continued Professional Development training courses throughout my teaching career, including: Phonics teaching, behavior management, specual educational needs, early maths skills development, EYFS as well as fully First Aid trained, Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene, Safeguarding Children and DBS checked.
My Availability
I am available Monday to Friday 7:30am until 6pm although hours can be negotiable. (Wednesday I am closed during the day)

Sarah started looking after my little girl when she was six months old. I was nervous about leaving her when she was so young but Sarah put us both at ease immediately. My daughter settled in incredibly quickly, testament to the welcoming and friendly atmosphere in Sarah's home. Establishing our daughter's routine was really important to my husband and I and Sarah has been extremely supportive and helpful with that. Sarah conducts engaging and educational activities through the day with plenty of fresh air and engagement between children. She keeps us up to date with everything they've been up to and communicates really well. She has been extremely flexible and helpful with our chaotic schedule. We are so sad to be moving away for work as Sarah has provided our daughter with such a wonderful home from home.
