My Summary
About Me
I am Marie, 27, an experienced nanny and nursery practitioner. I am a very reliable, fun-loving and creative person with a genuine love for spending time with children. I have recently relocated to Norwich; back in Brighton I worked as a nursery practitioner and I did regular babysitting on weekends and nights. I am currently looking for a part-time or full-time nannying job to start as soon as possible, as well as ad hoc babysitting.
I have got experience in looking after children of all ages (incl. newborns and twins), be it in big groups or one-on-one care as an Au Pair/Live-in nanny, nanny (incl. overnight stays) in Australia and England, as well as a teaching assistant, after school care worker and my most recent role as a nursery practitioner. I am confident in what I am doing and I put a lot of love and effort into my practice, always with the focus of making it fun and of educational value.
I hold a valid DBS check and have a solid background knowledge about education as I have a Bachelor's degree in English Language and Educational Science. I am a bilingual German/English speaker and have experience working, as well as teaching, in both languages. I like using BSL and Makaton as tools for language development. I love the outdoors and love being creative in my free-time.
Feel free to send me a message if this sounds like a good fit.
My Experience
I am fluent in German and English, hold a valid DBS check as well as pediatric first aid training (Level 3) and am a confident driver. I am used to working long days and am experienced in all age groups from newborn to 18 years.
These are my current and past experiences at a glance:
- Regular private lessons and occasional babysitting/nannying (10+ yrs)
- Nursery practitioner between 4 mo - 4 yrs at three nurseries (3 yrs), a lot of experience in the baby room (under 2 yo), and SEN experience
- Teaching assistant at a bilingual German/English kindergarten (1.5 yrs)
- Au Pair for a 2.5-10 yo (2 yrs) and a newborn (0-5weeks) in Australia; my hostmum will be happy to talk to you
- Au Pair for a 1.5-2.5 yo in England (1 yr)
- After School Care Worker at a primary school (1.5 yrs)
- Teaching Assistant for a refugee class
- Organiser of annual volunteer project (10+ years)
- Team leader of several summer camps (5 yrs)
I am happy to help out wherever I can and always make sure to leave the space clean and tidy. I have got plenty of child-approved recipes in store and depending on your children's ages, I love to involve them as much as they like.
I am a believer in giving children their own space to learn and explore on their own (of course appropriate to their age) whilst also giving impulses to believe in themselves and trying something new. It makes me very happy when, by the end of a day or week, they have learned a new skill/word, be it big or small. I think it is important to set clear boundaries and explain things (I always try to explain ‘why’), whilst being gentle and kind. I usually have a rough schedule for meals and play to make sure your child feels safe and knows they can trust me. I like to do all sorts of activities indoors and outdoors (playgrounds, library, walks, parks, adventure days out, arts & crafts, etc.) and like to make simple things fun (such as colour-coding pegs or going to the supermarket). I love the outdoors and am a big believer in the importance of different sensory input.
Please let me know if you would like to know more and I will be happy to answer any questions that might come up. I’m looking forward to talking to you!
My Qualifications
I have recently worked as a nursery practitioner and have a valid DBS check. Moreover, I have experience working as teaching assistant at a bilingual kindergarten. I have been an Au Pair in England and Australia for 3 yrs in total and worked at a primary school for 1.5 yrs. I have got a double Bachelor's degree in Educational Science and English Language, which doesn't only provide me with a good knowledge of English, but also a different view on education. I also hold a Level 3 Understanding Autism Certificate. I am also learning BSL and like to use Makaton and BSL signs as a tool throughout my practice. Hence, I know a fair bit about different parenting styles. I am bilingual (German and English) and have experience in teaching both.

I'm primarily searching for a live-OUT position.
