My Experience

SPECIAL NEEDS TEACHING ASSISTANT
I currently work as a teaching assistant in a special needs school which I love. I have worked with a children with a range of disabilities.

AGENCY WORK
I worked for an agency in different special needs schools. I absolutely loved it and have gained so much experience and knowledge from being there.

NANNY/HOMESCHOOLING
I have looked after a set of twin girls aged 16 months for a total of 1 month. I supported them with different meals, settled them to sleep and spent lots of time in the park.

I have also worked with 2 girls aged 5 and 7 for a total of 3 weeks, helping them complete their school work and looking after them while their Mum is working from home.

ALPHABET NURSERY
I was a nursery nurse who worked with children aged between 2 and 3 years.
I organised and served breakfast, lunch and snack time. We did lots of arts and crafts throughout the day as well as free play. I settled the children to sleep for nap time, changed nappies, providing parents with daily feedback about the child as well as completing observational reports and helping the children meet their mile stones.

SALVATION ARMY
I have also volunteered at the Salvation Army Winton both in their Summer Holiday Club for 6 to 12 year olds and a weekly Baby Sensory Play Group.

BUDDHIST CENTRE
At the Buddhist Centre in Charminster I helped the younger children relax and meditate, at their Mini Meditators group, as well helping with art and crafting activities.

FOOD ALLERGIES/INTOLERANCES
My brother is severely allergic to nuts as well as other foods and I am used to checking labels and helping to ensure he does not come into contact with anything he is allergic too. At the nurseries there were also lots of children with various allergies and intolerances, which I helped cater for. I am also EPI pen trained.

COLLEGE
Level 3 BTEC in Children's Play, Learning and Development at Brockenhurst College, in which I achieved a D*DD grade. During the course we undertook four separate work placements, alternating between one week at college and one week placement. We gained experience in four different settings including 3 nurseries and a primary school in reception which I loved! I most enjoyed working and looking after the younger children and babies as I loved supporting their needs and welfare.

My Qualifications

BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Children's Play, Learning and Development at Brockenhust College, where I have achieved a D*DD grade.

I have also have completed a Paediatric First Aid course and hold an Enhanced DBS certificate.
