About Me
I am a fully registered OFSTED childminder with five years experience in my current role; situated in the heart of Rush Green, on Rush Green Road in close proximity to Romford Station and Queens Hospital offering childcare for a home from home environment for your child to play, learn and grow whilst in my care.
I am married and together with my husband we raised six of our own children, 2 of who are now adults, 2 teenagers and 2 in primary school in the local area where we have resided for the past 25 years. I am currently working alongside 2 part time assistants and recently completed the Early Years Professional Development Programme to further my CPD.
Having grown up and raised my own family in Romford/ Rush Green, I know the area and historical background well.
I offer a good open indoor and outdoor space with a lot of toys and equipment for your child to have a play based childhood whilst with us and an out building where we have more toys and equipment.
I take mindees’ out almost everyday to the local parks, forests, allotments and playgroups and on different outings (such as the local animal sanctuary and farms) throughout holidays to enrich their learning and support their social skills by mixing with other children in the wider environment and providing different opportunities for discussion and enquiring minds.
We have ample opportunities for language rich communication through nursery rhymes, general chit chat, talking, explorative play and I have taken children to Robot Reg Phonics (additional charge).
I plan trips during the holidays and parents are usually happy for me to take their kids out on the trains and buses to explore the wider world, be this down by the docks, in muesums, by the seaside etc (occasionally charges apply - entrance fees, etc.).

My Experience
As a mum with 6 of my own children (5,7,13,15,20,24), I have over 20 years worked and voluntary experience in different transitions and settings.
All the children in my setting get to explore, play, learn in an inclusive, homely, warm environment and feel a part of our family.

I couldn't be more thrilled with the care my son receives from Skye. He absolutely loves spending time at her warm and welcoming home. From the moment we met Skye, we knew we had found someone special. Her lovely, family-like atmosphere made it easy for our son to settle in, and it’s clear that she genuinely enjoys her work.
What really stands out is how engaging and versatile she is. She organizes interesting activities every day, from playtime to crafts, which are not only fun but also support our son’s speech development, especially as he has English as an additional language. Her approach has made a noticeable difference, and we can see our son growing in confidence and language skills every week.
Her spacious home is beautifully set up for children, with a wide variety of well-equipped toys and activities, and the garden is a fantastic space for outdoor play. The environment feels both stimulating and secure, and I love that the children have access to such a nurturing space.
One of the many things we appreciate is her attention to providing healthy homecooked meals. She prepares delicious, nutritious food that our son enjoys, which is a big plus for us as parents. We know he’s getting healthy food in a balanced and caring way, which complements the wonderful care he receives.
Having her own children around adds to the family atmosphere, and our son feels like he's part of a big, happy family when he's there. We couldn’t ask for a better childminder, and we feel so fortunate to have found someone who cares for our son as much as we do.
At the end of each day, Skye always takes the time to provide thoughtful and detailed communication about the activities my son engaged in, giving us a clear picture of his progress and what he enjoyed the most, which we truly appreciate.

Skye looks after my children during half terms and school holidays and they absolutely loved it. What I really loved is Skye takes them fun places and they get to enjoy fun activities, she’s very caring and kind and it’s a lovely feeling knowing they are safe and cared for at Skye’s house, sometimes they don’t even want to leave when I pick them up because they’ve enjoyed it so much!

My 8 year old son really enjoyed his week with Skye over the half term. They enjoyed time at their home where he had access to lots of toys and a lovely garden, went into London to the Science museum and local parks.

In taking my daughter to Skyelight childcare, Skye, has been a lovely person to see my daughter with, she (my daughter) calls her Auntie Skye and as her speech developed, my daughter has been able to communicate some of the joys she gets with her play and friends when with Auntie Skye.
We have found that Skye's home is very warm, engaging for little tots and has lots well used space that encourages developmental play. Skye provides home cooked meals, versatile play, i.e. taking the tots to different Soft play and play groups, outside play, interaction with animals, which my daughter always raves about.
Skye provided settling in hours so when my daughter was younger she could climatise to her and this worked well.
As well as her being easy to relate with; Skye has been open to accommodating with specific childcare day arrangement and this human touch is very important and has been received with many many thanks. I have previously asked for more pictures throughout my daughters day as not only did I find it a joy to see her enjoying her little life, it showcased the variety of engagement Skye is happy to do.
Whenever it's possible and makes sense to do, the opportunity will be taken to have my daughter at Skyelight childcare more often as I trust my daughter is in safe hands.
Being able to trust someone with your child, can be a difficult thing when its your first and it's new, I myself have found it presented some uncomfortable feelings which may have made it unclear the expectation, we as parents have. Skye has provided us space to talk things through and more space to talk if required, putting that option out there kindly.
Since having the opportunity for sharing it has allowed good balance of ideologies to meet the childcare wishes had, I found this human touched very important and encouraged the trust I have in Skyelight childcare.
To this I take my hat of to Skye, and I am thankful for her, her work and play and growth development she has aided to my daughter.

Our son started with Skye at 14 months old, he has been there for 6 months and absolutely loves it! He enjoys the different activities they attend and the play time with the family at end of day. It feels like he is part of the family.
Skye is kind caring and fun, our child absolutely loves her and her family. She is great at settling him when he is upset and always kept us in the know, which is reassuring. Skye keeps us updated on our son's meals, activities and interests. She understands our son's needs and accommodates when needed.
We feel confident that our son is happy, stimulated and cared for and we are very grateful for Skye's care.
