My Summary
About Me
My little bird home nursery is with an Ofsted registered childminder agency and I care for children from newborn to 3 years. I currently have availability on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday for one child from November.
I provide high quality childcare that is the ideal environment for children's development. My setting is a home from home, I want all children who enter to feel comfortable and excited for the day ahead. I am located a few minutes from Wood Green tube station and have multiple parks within a short distance, so there are plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventures and play. Weather permitting I want children who stay with me to get lots of opportunity to explore outside and get the many advantages of being in nature. I also have a garden and an open door policy so children are welcome to play outside whenever they wish. I am breastfeeding/formula, toilet training and cloth nappy friendly. I provide healthy and balanced vegetarian meals and snacks (all of which are included in my pricing), and I am happy to cater for a range of dietary requirements.
My setting has a small and very friendly dog, so there is also the benefit of learning how to be around and enjoy pets. There is a big emphasis on books and story time in my home nursery and also an abundance of open ended toys/materials that I keep on rotation so there's always something new to spark their interest and imagination. It is very important to me to make eco-friendly and sustainable choices wherever possible in how I run my childminding business. I minimise plastic use, use only plastic free and biodegradable baby wipes and source toys and equipment sustainably and often from small businesses. I also include themes on the environment and how to be more eco-friendly in my activities throughout the year, things like composting, reducing waste and recycling are emphasised parts of the day to day in my setting.
I work within the Early Years Foundation Stage and Development Matters guidelines to make sure I am always supporting children's age appropriate development and education. My educational background is primarily in sociology and focused on families and mental health. This has lead to a great understanding of children's development, particularly their emotional development and how best to support them. I have a huge interest in concious/respectful parenting and it definitely influences how I interact with children. I love that the small groups in childminding naturally lead to a closer bond and understanding of each individual child. I include Montessori aligned practices and educational objects where I can and I'm forever looking for what else I can incorporate. Toys and activities include the play house, play kitchen, a Pikler triangle, shape puzzles, practical life activities, a ball pit, wooden blocks, wooden train sets, dolls, painting, gluing, drawing, messy play, water play, homemade play dough, oobleck, baking, musical instruments and more!
