My Summary
About Me
I am an enthusiastic 25 year old originally from Italy, who loves working with Children. I have over 2 years of experience in professional childcare - within nurseries and as a nanny of three families. Before starting my professional journey after moving to the UK, I had also done much voluntary childcare work which I continue to do, totalling around 6 years. I also completed a course to become a registered Baby Sitter whilst I was living in Italy.
I always built great relationships with the kids that I've looked after and I would be honoured to be offered an opportunity to look after you children.
My Experience
Nanny January 2023 – Present
Nannying in two different settings. The first as a nanny share between two families, taking care of two boys aged 3-4. I prepared exercises and games appropriate for their development e.g for learning shapes, numbers, colours and planets. I also helped get them ready for going to primary school, in particular learning to write their own names. I focused on things they were interested in, and used that to teach. We had lots of fun, doing activities and taking them out to explore the sea side, farm, and parks.
The second is taking care of child aged 1. I made sensory toys to aid his growth. Later we did colours and counting through playtime. He especially loves music and fresh air. So we sing lots of song together and go to the park.
Nursery Practitioner Apprentice August 2022 – January 2023
Erskine Day Nursery
Mainly based in the Pre-school room (ages 3-4) but sometimes going between Babies (0-2) and Little Stars (2-3). Duties: Leading circle time where we teach the children Days of the Week, Months of the Year, the Alphabet and Numbers etc. I have also started teaching the children Italian using video aids. I currently enjoy the Pre-school age most as I can teach them new habits and behaviours through understanding what I’m saying. I enjoy playing with them, understanding what they like and encouraging them to express themselves. I also do feeding, changing of nappies and bed time.
Nursery Practitioner December 2021 – August 2022
Knowle Green Day Nursery
Mainly assisting in the room for children aged 1 – 2, but sometimes covering all ages from 0 - 4. Responsibilities included: taking care of the children; playing; reading; changing nappies; putting them to bed; feeding them breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. For me it is not about simply doing my duties but connecting and caring. In fact, when I would enter the room, they’d regularly run to me and ask me to read to them, pick them up and joke with them.
I also looked after two different children with special educational needs one-to-one. I was praised by other staff members for my ability to calm them down and understand them where others struggled. I loved making them feel more peaceful and gaining their trust. Other’s commented on how attached they were to me.
Children’s Group Volunteer October 2017 – Present
Fonte D'Acqua Viva / Kingdom Faith Church
Assisting in and leading children’s groups, aimed at helping them learn and have fun whilst at church. The general responsibilities are looking after the children (aged 3-10) and occasionally preparing games and organizing crafts. In June 2021, I led my first session. This involved: creating and preparing the week’s topic with games that link to and help explain it; teaching the material; and communicating it in a way that the children found interesting and understandable.
I established strong relationships with the children in my care; they would come to play with me outside of the group time. Again, I was told that I have a good ability to relate to and manage children with disabilities making them feel comfortable and understood.
