My Summary
About Me
Hello!
I’m Rachel, I am someone who brings a caring, patient, and creative approach to everything I do whilst remaining driven and motivated. In my free time, I immerse myself in various hobbies such as arts and crafts, cooking, baking, and reading.
Currently, I’m pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Early Years Education, and I’m eager to find opportunities that align with my studies. Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a diverse range of families and children, from newborns up to 10 years old. This experience has enriched my understanding and skills in working with children. I genuinely enjoy working with children and find it incredibly rewarding to support their growth and development. Whether through guiding them in learning new skills or providing emotional support. I am passionate about helping children reach their full potential in a nurturing and positive environment.
My Experience
My experience working with children began in the summer of 2019, when I started providing ad hoc babysitting services for multiple families with children ranging in ages from 6 to 10 years old. In this role, I was responsible for a variety of childcare duties, including planning and supervising outdoor activities during the summer months, preparing nutritious meals, managing bath time, and ensuring a smooth bedtime routine. Over time, I developed a strong ability to engage children in creative play, maintain their safety and well-being, and establish positive routines.
Due to the pandemic in 2020, I was unable to work. However, in spring of 2021, I began working as a full-time nanny for a local family, caring for their now 8-year-old daughter and supporting them with their newborn baby. In this role, my responsibilities included school pickups two to three times per week, as well as occasional evening and weekend childcare. During school pickups, I would walk the child home, prepare snacks and dinner, and oversee the bedtime routine. I also assisted with homework and provided engaging educational activities to help her improve her learning. I also planned activities during school breaks, such as trips to museums, playgroups, and local events. Additionally, I provided hands-on support to the mother with the newborn, including tasks such as changing, cleaning and general infant care. As the mother returned to work, I took on full-time responsibility for both children, caring for the baby while ensuring the older child’s daily needs were met.
During my first year at university, I undertook a mandatory placement, which led me to work as an assistant for a childminder. As a result, I transitioned from my full-time nanny role but continued to provide occasional evening babysitting services for the same family. Over the course of five months, this position allowed me to deepen my understanding of child development and enhance my ability to support a child’s physical and emotional wellbeing. Working in an environment with children of varying ages, I gained valuable experience in adapting learning activities for different developmental stages while managing the care of multiple children simultaneously. This experience significantly broadened my practical skills and strengthened my knowledge of early childhood education and care.
This role was pivotal in expanding my expertise in child development and childcare, providing me with a more comprehensive skill set for working with children across different age groups.
