My Summary

My Experience

I first participated in a childcare setting during year 10 when I completed my work experience at a Primary School. I worked with foundation stage (4-5 years), helping to organise activities and help the children with their reading and writing skills.
All through school I knew I wanted to further my studies so I could gain the right experience to involve myself in the childcare industry.
During A Level’s (I completed 1 year studying English Language, Media and Sociology), I was notified of a Level 2 Apprenticeship position at a private nursery. After considerable thought, I decided to give up my A Levels and take on the role as an apprentice.
During my apprenticeship, I was responsible for supervising children aged 2-3s and rising 3s alongside my Room Leader. I was responsible for 3 Key Children for whom I wrote observations, updated their daily diary’s, and helped them develop new skills using the EYFS. I set up the children’s tables for lunch and supervised the children while they ate.
During this time I also completed several training courses online
Over the summer holidays I took part working at a science summer camp for kids. I was responsible for leading science activities e.g., match the life cycle, create your own dinosaur etc. As well as this, I supervised the children while they had lunch and helped to make sure all children attending the summer camp felt safe and comfortable.
I am currently employed by ‘JAG/EnergyKidz’ at an after school club, performing the role of Activity Instructor. I work alongside the children, ageing from 5-11, to complete weekly themed activities. For example, during October, we dedicate 2 weeks towards a spooky theme. During this, we completed colourings, Halloween decorations, masks etc. I also supervise the children when taking part in outdoor amusement, whether this is independent play or planned activities such as parachute games. I am also responsible for preparing the children’s snacks, which we organise in year groups.
Alongside this, i have been taking part in placement within a primary school (foundation stage) over the last two years to gain my college qualification.
