Jen’s Childminding Trowbridge is all about freedom, play & exploration!
Our home has a calm, uncluttered feel and the entire play space and garden is open for free exploration; I aim to watch, observe and adapt when required. I encourage children to be themselves and express themselves. Inside we have plenty of toys, as well as it everyday items, loose parts & materials for exploration; junk modelling, play dough, sand, dressup, plenty of books, puzzles and cosy cushions for sharing stories. We love singing, making music and noise, as well as dancing and yoga! All toys and resources are freely accessible and available as and when. I plan creative activities based around the stories & things we love and the seasonal changes, but our day evolves organically depending on what the children need - this enables me to be completely child-led.
I live with my partner & 2 energetic sons (5 and 4). We have a playroom, messy space and large enclosed garden with climbing frame and small wild woodland area. We are often outside running or riding around, building dens & getting muddy.
I am a big believer in learning through the every-day, whether this be sorting socks in the laundry, digging in the garden, chopping, peeling or preparing snacks when we’re hungry, or finding the right day on the calendar by identifying the initial sound. This being said, I am completely child focussed - children can explore as and how they see fit. I regularly adapt resources & the environment to work with & develop individual interests. Regular visits to the library, as well as toddler & music groups, the park, the canal & the sensory garden are also integral to our week. I stay pretty local, on foot as for me, life and learning is as much about the journey as the destination! mom
