My Summary
About Me
I have just completed my first year of teacher training with the University of Reading. Whilst completing this, I have been working within a paid placement school in Maidstone, working within Year 6 and SATS preparation interventions as well as running and leading a bespoke English and Maths curriculum for children with SEND needs in Year 3 and 4. I have experience working with a range of SEND students, including working with ADHD, Autism, PDA and ODD.
Over the past few years, I have worked in a variety of schools and across all year groups from Key Stage 2 to EYFS. Within this, I have explored the teaching of phonics to children within Key Stage 2 and adapting different schemes such as Little Wandle and Read Write Inc to support a variety of SEND needs. As well as this, I am confident in assessing children’s abilities and completing gap analysis to build a comprehensive picture of a child’s ability and allow me to adapt my tutoring to fill these gaps, solidifying their overall knowledge.
I have worked within the EYFS too, and have extensive phonetic knowledge, and have a passion for teaching reading.
I am trained in colourful semantics for sentence structure and reading skills. I also have had extensive training and experience in delivering precision teaching for spelling and maths.
My Experience
I have had extensive experience working alongside children, weather that be from babysitting day and night a younger cousin who has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), teaching children dance from the age range of 4-16, being a tutor at my secondary school - tutoring children ages 11-15 in key subjects such as maths, english, sciences, french, religious education and history, tutoring for the Kent and Medway 11+ or completing work experience in a primary school with a large SEN department, working alongside physically disabled children and children with specific learning difficulties such as ASD and ADHD.
