Hey,
I’m Melissa and I’m OFSTED registered childminder in Maypole, B14 area.
I have two children a teenage boy 16 and a little girl who is 8 I am also a dog owner of a little Shih Tzu Mable who is 5 years old, she’s very friendly and enjoys lots of cuddles.
Im very local and live by Sainsbury’s Maypole, buses 50,49 & 2 are a couple of minutes away from my house.
I will be following the EYFS framework for under 5’s just like nurseries. My ethos is for children to learn and explore different environments, whilst having fun and being happy!
My Experience
My first experience with children was 10 years ago, when I worked at Maypole Children’s Centre with vulnerable children & families.
I planned and delivered stay and play sessions, events, parenting sessions, weaning, child safety and conducted home visits to new moms.
I worked at the children’s centre for 7 years until I started working for InUnity a local charity that works with young people, where I delivered youth clubs and empowering sessions within schools to children aged 8-15. I also became a mentoring manager to vulnerable teenagers who were struggling with school and home life. I realised whilst working with teenagers, that most of their issues and needs stemmed from when they were under 5 and all they needed was a positive role model, this made me think about working as a childminder, and here I am. I have a wealth of knowledge with children and young people which will help me succeed in having a good relationship with your child and a positive working relationship with parents/carers. I have a warm, friendly, loving home to make children feel happy and safe. I'm looking forward to welcoming you all.

My childminding days are Monday- Thursday 7.30-17.30
I provide Full time & Part time & term time only contracts.
I will be as flexible as I can be to suit your needs.

My son started with Melissa in 2022 and loved every moment!! We couldnt wish for anyone kinder and more trustworthy to look after him than Melissa.
He was regularly taken on trips to the farm, parks and different walks. They are always doing something fun and my son absolutely loved it with Melissa and the other children.
Melissa was always reliable, friendly and greeted my son with a smile every morning. Melissa has really helped my son come out of his shell and i’m truly grateful for how she has looked after him. If you are looking for a childminder, your child will be very safe and happy with Melissa 🥰

Melissa is an amazing childminder. Our little boy has been attending for over a year now and loves going there. Melissa every morning welcomes him with a big smile, he walks in takes his shoes and doesn’t look back. Everyday she takes them out where that be a trip to a local stay and play, park, Forrest school or even a farm visit she makes sure his days busy. When they are at her house she keeps them busy with different activities such as crafts, singing and dancing. My favourite thing about Melissa is how plans such lovely days for the children so I know my little boy is having the best time whilst I’m a work. During the summer she has a lovely garden where she sets tuff trays up for the children and has a trampoline, slide to keep them entertained. In the winter she still encouragers lots of fresh air. She keeps a good routine for the children and try’s to keep a similar routine to what you have at home. The children have built a lovely relationship and play lovely together which I believe is all down to Melissa. I feel Melissa actually cares about our little boy and she knows his likes and dislikes. She even puts up with his love of Toy Story. Melissa’s family are also lovely and I often pick him up and see him playing with her daughter and even her teenage son playing with him. Melissa is honestly a credit to us and our family and we are so glad we found her.
