My Summary

My Experience

Children have played an important role in my life since young age. Taking care of my siblings and babysitting jobs have enabled me to understand the importance and the impact adults have in children’s lives as roles model. These feelings, which ones were only intuitions, have developed and grown into stronger awareness in the last 20 years of my working life as a teaching assistant and then teacher in the early years / primary school.
I have had the opportunity to support teachers, children and their families from nursery up to year 6.
Throughout the years I have also been working as a babysitter, after school and at weekends with many different families. Most of my working life I have had the privilege to cater for exceptional children most of whom have had profound learning difficulties which were exacerbated by underlying special educational needs. What an extraordinary and humbling experience it has been for me. They have give me the opportunity to reflect, challenge my assumptions, reset myself from a lower, simpler perspective (the child’s perspective)and use my creativity to come up with feasible solutions. The knowledge I have acquired is so precious and is not found in books - neither is taught in colleges. It can only be tapped through an understanding of children and a fine ‘tuning in’ into children’s inner worlds and what is relevant to them. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to gain access to those worlds which start from varied places and takes you in different directions, usually, to the most unexpected ones, which are innovative, inventive and exciting.

My Qualifications

I hold a degree in “Supporting young people”, a post graduate certificate (PGCE) in primary education with Spanish (as MFL), Training given on ASD and ADHD.

My Availability

I am available for babysitting jobs most days after school time.
