About Me

My name is Jodie and I work with an assistant called Kylie. Together we have a maximun of 8 children per day, four each that we act as a key person too, making sure all their needs are met to a high standard.

My early years setting is in a purpose built Cabin in my garden, providing year round access to indoor and outdoor activities and resources, carefully selected and regularly rotated to encourage children to explore and investigate, sparking curiosity and a desire to learn through play.

Little Explorer's provides a homely and loving environment, so important in the early years to enable the children to feel safe, secure and happy and more likely to engage to reach their very best potential.

Everyday will consist of reading, story times, singing, rhyme time and circle activities, as well as a routines around morning arrival, lunch time and napping. But with lots of time to slow down and explore the world around them, inside and outside...

We go out most days. Some days we walk to our local park that has just been installed and has a lovely large sand pit. We also attend different plays groups, from physical fun to more traditional stay and play days as well as woodland walks, national trust sites, museums and zoo visits, local parks, libraries and seasonal events. We are also members of Mead open farm and visit often and in colder months we make the most of our membership to a local soft play.

I have a firm grasp of the 7 areas of learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and endeavour to plan learning experience that meet each child where they are at and help them to move forward through the mile Stones toward the Early Learning Goals set.

I have worked with children, families and schools for 20+ years. But I love working with little ones on a smaller ratio enabling me to really get to know their individual needs and help them flourish. Watching early years children's excitement and enthusiasm as they discover the world around them and what they can achieve is my absolute passion! How lucky I am to do it every day.
