My Summary
About Me
Having recently qualified as a Level 5 Specialist Teacher that specialises in teaching learners with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties, such as dyspraxia and dyscalculia, I am offering private tutoring that helps support and enable learners to become independent and confident within themselves and their life. I pride myself on researching and being up to date with the curriculum so that I can ensure all children are supported to achieve their true potential and flourish in the classroom and in life.
My Experience
During my three years of teaching at primary schools, I particularly enjoyed working alongside children with Special Educational Needs in smaller groups and felt that is the most inspiring and interesting part of the job. While teaching as a classroom teacher, I supported the children with more practical approaches or strategies. Additionally, I can use the understanding and ideas from my teaching in my tutoring role. In this way, I will be able to support children with dyslexia and specific learning difficulties more effectively.
Throughout the teaching practices, I developed and built a report early on with the learner as it is on a one-to-one basis. I ensure I always think of the learner first and ensure I maximise their strengths and minimise their weaknesses by tailoring the lessons to include movement or rest breaks, using resources that are tailor-made to their learning preferences, and engaging their attention with the activities being linked to their interest and learning strengths. This is so that the learner feels safe, important, and empowered. I always prepared a personalised learning plan to help plan and adapt multi-sensory lessons that are specialised to suit the learner and their own ability. I find it extremely important to guide a learner to have a growth mindset, be more independent and confident within themselves as a learner and in their application of the strategies, they have developed to show their knowledge and understanding.
