Im a Biology student currently living in Bristol for the next couple years looking for any potential babysitting or after -school nannying opportunities.
I'm the oldest of 3 siblings and grew up in South West London as well as spending a few years in Lisbon as my mother is Portuguese. I'm very close with my siblings, having spent a lot of time looking after them as my mum is a single parent and also shared the responsibility of being a dementia-carer for my grandmother who lived with us in London.
Growing up I had a passion for nature and the ocean and after graduating I hope to go into Marine Conservation and research, or else become a scuba diver instructor. My hobbies include gardening, yoga, crochet and on my holidays I love to sail with my family and travel - I just returned from an amazing trip backpacking around Morocco.
My Experience
Growing up I spent a lot of time babysitting my siblings and cousin who used to live with us. They are 3, 4 and 5 years younger than me and my cousin has learning difficulties.
I've also babysat for many different families since I was 13 across a variety of ages from 2 to 17 including entertaining them, helping with homework, making dinner and putting them to bed.
In secondary school I took part in a variety of weekly voluntary programmes. The first was the 'Fun Fizz' kids programme in a community center in Streatham, London in 2018 where I helped run activities in a gym for children with special needs as a way to help kids meet and socialise with other children who may have the same conditions as them. I then also volunteered at Heber Primary School, helping Year 5 and 6 students with 11+ exam preparation for a couple hours every week. In 2019, I helped run a weekly arts and crafts after-school club at Belham Primary School for children across Year 1 to Year 6, as well as organizing and running events at their sports day in the summer.
Furthermore, for work experience in 2018 I worked as a Sailing Instructor Assistant at the Camel Sailing School in Rock, Cornwall where I helped teach kids from the ages of 7 to 16 the basics of sailing small Pico boats, which included time in the classroom and out on the water.
In 2020, during lockdown, I nannied for a family in London whilst their 7 year old was doing online learning. This included arriving early in the morning, making breakfast, getting Nathaniel ready for registration, sitting with him during lesson time, making him lunch, taking him to the park, doing his homework with him until his parents returned at 5 o'clock.
I was also a weekly GCSE maths and science tutor for two different teenagers aged 15 and 16 in 2019 and 2020.
My Qualifications
Education-wise I have 12 GCSEs, including A* grades in subjects such as Maths, English and Spanish. I also have 3 A Levels, including Maths, Psychology and Biology. I am currently a student at the University of Bristol doing a Bachelor's degree in Biology.
In 2021 I was trained as an Emergency First Responder, and so am able to provide First Aid.
