About Me
Hi, I'm Hayley. I have recently moved back to the Wyre forest after exploring the Lake District for a couple of years. Now back home I would love to return to a role where I can make a difference in a young persons life. I get on with all children however I do have a special connection to those on the autism spectrum, every child is different & I am skilled in getting to know your child & adapting a person centred approach to learning & play. I can handle challenging situations calmly & strategically as once I have built a relationship I am very intuitive to potential triggers to behaviours & am able to avoid this with distractions. I have supported young people & adults in a care home environment as well as schools but I feel the best way to support children & young people with specific needs I really believe a 1:1 environment is best, where I can become a key part of your families lives & ultimately become a friend to your little one.
My Experience
My journey began in the care home supporting ten adults whom were all on the spectrum as well as other diagnoses such as epilepsy, everyone here required 1:1 support due to there challenging behaviour. I then moved to a steiner college supporting students in their classes. Most recently, I supported a wonderful boy while I was in Melbourne, officially my title was a play buddy, this was a wonderful role and I'm looking for something similar now. I have had a lot of experience with children, young people & adults who are non verbal or have difficulties in verbal communication, therefore I feel myself excellent at overcoming barriers to communication, especially once I get to know a person whether it be through makaton, object reference or other ways. I always focus on a person centered approach to things & we can adapt simple ideas to work for the individual.
My Qualifications
Level 3 teaching assistant, as well as food hygiene & the care certificate.
