My Experience

Thought my Teenage/adult life I have always been looking after children, whether that would be for family and friends or in a professional setting. My first job thought college back in 2017 was regally babysitting for a lovely family, they had two children 1 and 5 and it was my responsibility to provide after-school care, cooking tea, keeping them entertained, and getting them ready and settled for bed.
After finishing college I went into full-time work as an Outdoor instructor, this meant working daily with children from 5+ of all ages and abilities taking them on several outdoor activities from rock climbing, High ropes, and water sport activities. Ensuring their safety, happiness and overall enjoyment of their stay, for most of them it would be the first time they would be away from home. I Dealt with Tears and tantrums, squabbles, and toilet mishaps, all in a day's work. it was great to see Children come out of their shell and try new things and gain more confidence and it felt good to be a part of that.
After working there for just over a year I felt it was time to do something else, this leads me to nanny for a family with 2 children 3,6, and 16 although they only needed me for 4 months it was great! In the day I was responsible for the youngest making sure he was happy, safe, and had all his daily needs met I would take him to various activities such as swimming and play centers. I was also responsible for picking the other two children up from school and providing after-school care, this meant cooking them tea, helping out with any homework, after-school clubs, and getting them ready for bed.
After my 4 months was up I went into another nannying position working with a family with two children aged 1 and 5 again it was pretty similar to the past role and I enjoyed it just as much! (I have just moved to Chester hence why I had to leave my previous job :) )
In my personal life, I have an older sister who has two young children (ages 1 and 2) who I regally babysit for since they were newborns. Her youngest was born prematurely at 27 weeks however my sister entrusted me from day 1 to help with feeding and nappy changing in the baby care unit.
Sport is another big part of my life so up until recently I coached gymnastics to children 2+. Again this was great fun and something I found highly rewarding!
