My Summary
About Me
Welcome to my childcare page.
My name is Vilma, and I am an Ofsted registered childminder of 20 years and a member of Pacey. Ofsted graded GOOD.
Vacancies: From November 2024 Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays Term-Time only.
I am passionate about children and watching them develop into happy, well-rounded, independent individuals.
I am a fluent English-Spanish speaker. We speak English in my setting but also introduce Spanish.
I'm based between Selhurst, West and East Croydon train stations, and the 157, 450, 50, 468, 75 and 289 buses are a few minutes walk to my home.
I carry out childcare drop-offs and pickups to and from the Crescent primary school.
I pride myself in offering a home-from-home environment (a homely atmosphere), a place where children feel safe, and loved, a caring environment, part of the extended family, but above all, a setting where all have lots of fun learning through play, allowing children to explore flourish and grow.
Being a mother, I can reassure you that your child will be cared for with the same level of care as my own family.
I work in partnership with parents to understand the individual needs of their children and monitor, track and plan for their next steps in developing their progress.
We go out most days to parks, farms, playgroups, children's centres and play dates with other childminders.
My household consists of four of us.
My two sons, my eldest is an assistant head of year 7 and my youngest has just finish university and will be continuing in Education. They return home to visit during their holidays; they are both registered with Ofsted as suitable to be around children and have DBS’. My sons have grown up whilst I have been a childminding; they have beautiful memories and friends and love seeing all the children that attend my setting, as do the children that attend. I am also a special guardian to a very loving 5 year old, he has been with us since October 2022 and is very much part of our family.
We have pet cats, which are a great hit with the children and a small dog, who is crate trained. Children love animals for the simple reason that in a relationship with a pet, they can be ‘just’ themselves, with no rules, measures, expectations, or outcomes but purely with love and natural awe.
My opening Hours:
I can accommodate earlier starters if required Term-time only, following Croydon Council School term dates.
Monday 8.00 am to 5.30 pm

Thursday 8.00 am to 5.30 pm

We participate in many activities and visit playgroups; play dates and outings are vital as they reinforce any planned activity. All activities are designed with each child in mind; this way, the child will get the best out of the day, and their personal development will be met.
I have a playroom and garden.
You can find many outdoor and indoor games—sand, water, slides etc.
The playroom is full of toys, books, and other activities.
Many arts and crafts: drawing, painting, playdoh, papercrafts, themed crafts, etc.
Baking and cooking are much loved here, and all ages take part.
Healthy eating is essential. If your child has allergies, please do let me know..
My Experience
My experiences are varied, from being a mother to a tutor, playworker, nursery nurse and Childminder.
What I bring into families and their children's lives is an open approach to working together in the best interest of all involved and always taking into account that we live in a multicultural society.
We follow the EYFS and maintain all documentation required.

Vilma is a really great childminder. Both of my children love her and would still be going to her if we hadn’t moved house (nearly 100 miles away - just too far). They always had fun with Vilma and did lots of great activities. My children could both be described as ‘strong willed’ (to put it politely) but Vilma always knew exactly how to manage them.
COVID has so far prevented our planned reunion, but we are still in contact and my daughter still asks when we are going to see Vilma again.
This lady is a fantastic childminder both my children’ are with this lady and are both very happy never want to leave they have so much fun with her my son especially has a fantastic relationship with this lady, my son has learnt so much from her. Also free this lady my son will eat lots more food and is willing to try anything she helped us potty train him and get him out of nappies which only took a week.
Wow, where do I start with this woman!
Vilma was my SAVIOUR! Quite literally. You see, my son has ASD, ADHD and many other little odds and sods! I was going through hell with my son when I met Vilma! There was not a single person who could cope with his behaviours - myself included - I started work at 7.30 and desperately needed someone who could care for Alfie from 6.30 to 7.30 when his taxi would collect him to go to school. I must have spoken to 20 childminders that day, and none would help because of his disabilities! Vilma took him on, we met instantly and the rest is history! My son is now 12 and he was 6 when he joined Vilma’s club. He is no longer there, but he speaks so fondly of Vilma. I’m certain he would be prefer to be at her house most of the time. He ran away from home a few weeks when he refused to be disciplined for bad behaviour! I contacted my family, they all sat on the sofas. I thought to myself, maybe he went to Vilma’s as I couldn’t find him anywhere. As soon as I said what had occurred, her and her partner got ready, and came out to help me look for him! The police showed up with him after a little while! In a nut, this woman will go to the moon and back to look after your children, she will help to develop them into kind and caring young adults! I couldn’t of asked for a better childminder, I just wish I found her when my son was two. It would of saved a lot of heartache with others who do not understand kids or kids with special needs.
It is unfortunate that Covid restrictions are in place, however she messed me about for a whole month. One minute telling me she would call to arrange to meet up as i could not enter the premises. When I offered for a virtual tour of the place, she gave me an excuse. She stated, she thought (not confirmed) that nursery settings would be closed. Everytime single time there was an obvious excuse despite one of my daughters having a disability meaning she could still get childcare regardless of the situation. In other words, she could not find a way to refuse but rather find excuses to fob me off.
Very unprofessional and disgusted to say the least! If I could give 0 stars I would.

Thank you for your review.
I am sad to hear you feel this way. I believe that I tried to keep you as informed as I possibly could in this very difficult time for everyone during the Coronavirus Pandemic. The way I have changed the way I ran my setting was by following all updates and making sure that all the children the I childmind were and are at all times safe, healthy and developing.
I believe that my previous reviews tell you what I am like and how much I love my job, watching children develop into independent, confident, able and happy little people.
I have a fantastic working relationship with all my parents and even have contact with children and parents alike that no longer use my services. So much so that I am very proud to have been asked to be godmother to 2 of the children that I have cared for.
Vilma is more like a surrogate mum than just a childminder. She is very kind, caring and my kids love her. She is very experienced and responsible but more than that the kids love being at her place. Her premises are spotless, there are plenty of toys and educational games and the atmosphere is fun, nurturing and welcoming. I can't recommend her highly enough.
