Hi! I am 22 years old and so passionate about children. I am a South African international student, currently studying an MSc in Occupational Therapy (pre-registration) at St George’s University of London. I did my undergraduate degree in BSc Psychology at the University of Exeter. Once I qualify as an OT I hope to pursue a career in paediatrics. In my free time I love to run, play soccer, go to the beach and read books.
My Experience
I have a lot of experience working with children from volunteering and part time jobs. I worked part-time at CEDA centre, where I support disabled children and young people aged 5-21. I provided personal care, mealtime support, understood risk management plans and provided access to play opportunities. In terms of volunteering, I have been apart of Kids Church Sunday school programmes for a few years where I teach children from 11 months to 5 years old. Furthermore, I have got my student leadership accreditation through CoachBright Organisation where I tutored 3 children year 6 maths. During my gap year I was a highly trusted Au Pair for a family in South Africa for 5 months. I entertained, tutored, cared for and transported 4 children ages 5-12. For a different family, I babysat two children on a few occasions, ages 9 months and 2 years old. Additionally, I have done a lot of work experience shadowing Occupational Therapists working with children of various ages.
My Qualifications
I am currently studying MSc Occupational Therapy (pre-registration) at St George’s University of London. I completed IEB National Senior Certificate in South Africa: Life Science (85%), History (89%), Dramatic Arts (94%), Mathematics (80%), English (83%), Afrikaans (84%), Life Orientation (92%).
